What's funny is to go back to DU and read how disruptive they think they are...Clowns.

You know what moron? I'm darn tired of you calling us DU trolls just because we think you're a gooberhead. We bust our asses for the conservative cause AND we're Tolkien fans. The folks you've been calling trolls here today have spent THOUSANDS of our hard earned dollars to send care packages to our troops in Iraq. A bunch of us are monthly donors to FR. We support our President. We support our families and our churches. And that's just the start of what we do.

Sure, you've got a website. BFD. I've got about five right now. And yeah, one of mine is listed in my tagline, but I'm not trolling for hits.

Catch a clue. We don't give a rat's clymer about your opinion of ROTK or of Viggo or any of the other actors.

But I won't tolerate a little pissant like you calling my friends and family trolls.

Get my point now butthead?

You are absolutely right Corin! What amazes me is that this fool who went for several posts of spam insults is referring to someone else as disruptive clowns. Needs to take a peek in the mirror himself.

You are perhaps right about Viggo.

But not much else.

Not sure you understand conservatism.

Why punish the rest of the case, who are generally pro-American and support Iraqi liberation, for the comment of one of their actors? John Ryes-Davies and Sean Astin have both pubically stated that they support the troops and President Bush. I am not going to punish the rest of the cast for the comment of one of their actors--it's certainly not their fault he feels that way. Furthermore, Tolkien is a classic literary genius, and I want to enjoy the upcoming ROTK movie, which ulimtately celebrates the genius of Tolkien.

Furthermore, if you want your website to really be effective and influential, you need to learn to pick your battles more wisely.

Boycotting movies and actors that aren't worth the effort, or really do not deserve to be boycotted, demeans the entire purpose and effectiveness of boycotts.

Pick your battles wisely.

Everything I have seen this guy post so far is retarded. Mindless boycotting is annoying.

It's probably worth noting that Tolkien, if anything, politically seems to have been a Whig, with the Shire, with almost no government, being very reminiscent of the classically liberal ideals which formed the basis for the ideals on which our country was founded. All of which is over the head of Viggo, and surprisingly, Jonalvy44.

Tolkien's disapproval of socialism is in print, to the best of my knowledge.

Jona, your heart's in the right place, good job. But some of the folks you're attacking have their hearts in the right place as well, very much so.

Yikes.

So... you're boycotting a movie based on what somebody in the cast, however misguided, believes about politics.

Isn't that cute.

Makes me wanna research the cast of The Ten Commandments, Gone With the Wind, and Casablanca... just so I can know whether I'm still allowed to like those movies any more. Gosh... I would sure suck to suddenly have to start hating them.

But wait a minute... I just had another thought... what if somebody in the cast or the production of a movie had beliefs that are opposed to mine, but yet they never really publically espressed it? Good Lord... I never thought of that before.

What if I'm blindly supporting someone only because they haven't publicly expressed something with which I disagree? Maybe they should be boycotted *first* until they can be properly vetted for political belief??

No... Jonalvy44... I think when I go to movies I'll judge them for story, writing, acting and production. When people are running for office then I think I'll judge them for political intelligence, truthfulness and effectiveness.

You can accuse *me* of being a DU troll if you wish. I would recommend that you just *don't* go there.

Be well.

"He plays the part well in the movie. And to see Tolkien's books come to life is worth more to me than what the actors think offstage"

Absolutely! I just got through watching the extended version of the Two Towers and can't wait for the next installment.

The way I look at these Hollywood idiots is that when they make such a spectacle of themselves that I can't see past their politics to their acting to the extent that the net effect is a movie eclipsed by the persona of the performers, then I'll stay home, but this movie (trilogy) is an artistic masterpiece such as has never before graced the big screen and the whiney musings off screen of an incredibly good actor, who is but one of thouseands who worked diligently at the creation of a brilliant production, is not going to dampen my enthusiasm in the least.
