One dog had allegedly mauled a neighbor earlier this year, and officials said the dogs were well known in the rolling ranch land near Kiowa, southeast of Denver.

"The people in the area had their own sort of emergency phone network to warn each other if the dogs were loose before they would go out," Rattlesnake Fire District Chief Dale Goetz said.

After the first attack, I would have shot them on sight if they were loose and then challenged the owner to sue me.

After that attack, one dog was impounded and McCuen was issued a summons for having a vicious animal. The case was dismissed because there appeared to be no applicable ordinance

Amazing. In Colorado, you can shoot a loose dog that is attacking livestock, deer or elk, but I guess the sheriff couldn't shoot loose dogs that were in the habit of attacking humans.
