Aye, a game plan is good. We'd need to know what search terms we wanted to target and which website we wanted it to show up on. I googled "Bill Clinton Bio" (without quotations) and got that ABC site. So that's the most relevent return for BC's Bio.

I'm like you, I think a game plan is better than to start doing it willy nilly. Free Republic has thousands of pages. If we all got together on this we could definitely make it happen.

Exactly. The number of discrete pages pointing to the target is the key - even if we have 100 links on this page, it's only one page, and it won't rank as highly as 100 pages with one link apiece.

This Google ranking method is fairly well-known, BTW. Long before idiots like these were taking advantage of it, people had already begun spamming the Google rankings by creating a bunch of fake pages that all point to one main page, such that anyone searching for, say, "flowers" - as a made-up example - would automatically receive "Joe's Online Flowers" as the number-one result. When it works as intended, it's actually a pretty good way of ranking, but it's also prone to people intentionally exploiting it, obviously.

If it weren't for the fact that it would give this twit more traffic, I'd say redirect "miserable failure" back to his blog.
