"Miserable Failure"
Google ^ | 12/2/03 | Google

Google the term "miserable failure" and look at the second link.

Methinks there is a liberal activist in the White House IT department.

We need a way to hash out what to search for. And perhaps we should also think of picking a current target instead of a past one. Dean or Clark or Hillary for example.

This is from that "amon-hen" blog site: (number 6 and 7 on the Google return for "miserable failure"):

Miserable Failure

Here's a nifty idea for a new web project from Blah3.

From this day forth, I will refer to George W. Bush as a Miserable Failure at least once a day. Why, you ask? Well, someone came up with this great idea to link George W. Bush and Miserable Failure in popular search engines. If you have a blog or web site, help raise the link between George W. Bush and the phrase 'miserable failure' by copying this link and placing somewhere on your site or blog.

Thank you very much for your participation. [Politics] | Comments (1) | Link (Date added: Mon 27 Oct 2003, 22:17)

Seems likely that the "editor" and website owner are related. In the blog he admits it's not his idea. Probably stole it from a conservative.

Exactly. The number of discrete pages pointing to the target is the key - even if we have 100 links on this page, it's only one page, and it won't rank as highly as 100 pages with one link apiece.

This Google ranking method is fairly well-known, BTW. Long before idiots like these were taking advantage of it, people had already begun spamming the Google rankings by creating a bunch of fake pages that all point to one main page, such that anyone searching for, say, "flowers" - as a made-up example - would automatically receive "Joe's Online Flowers" as the number-one result. When it works as intended, it's actually a pretty good way of ranking, but it's also prone to people intentionally exploiting it, obviously.

Well, since the left hasn't had an original idea in at least 70 years or so now, that seems like a fair bet ;)

Google realizes this, and their bots are (probably) smart enough to deny this kind of false advertising for "their kind of politician".

Its gotta be worth trying. I wonder how many times you would have to link "bent" to get bubba?

I gotta step out for a little while. I'll think about search terms while I'm out. Perhaps we could use a medical term- "peri rectal abcess" or something like that. Anal obstruction. Tapeworm. Vaginitis.

LOL, the possibilities are endless. I'll have to give this a couple of hours thought.

If it weren't for the fact that it would give this twit more traffic, I'd say redirect "miserable failure" back to his blog.

Indeed. In truth, Google has a complaints page for reporting something like this, and if someone were to complain, they might do something about it. But, for my money, it's much more fun to respond in kind ;)

You get the same kind of thing by googling, "16 words"

"16 words" "miserable failure" are just a couple of the phony "issues" du jour the pus brains, who can only feeeeeeeeeeeeel not think, use to attack our wartime administration. These phrases are all over the media, university, etc. sites beginning day one of the issue du jour.

Though there have been charges that google plays with search results. google for, google guns

There will be hits detailing the charges.

Many would rightly consider President Bush a great success for taking the initiative of removing a miserable failure or two, among other things. But, while we're on the subject of miserable failures, it would be relevant to mention a few more, like this miserable failure, this miserable failure, and this miserable failure.

I've been inspired by this miserable failure thing, however. From this point forward I will be linking to great successes and miserable failures. I think you should to, after all, saying "miserable failure" and "great success" over and over is quite fun, in a childish sort of way.
