State-issued CCW's, reciprocity re: drivers' licences

I live in Georgia.
A lot of Yankees pass through my great State on their way to Florida.
Their home States do not respect Georgia-issued CCW permits, and can and do fine, impound the property of, and imprison upstanding Georgians who dare to cross their borders while packing heat.
A CCW is much like a drivers' licence, in that it certifies the bearer as being approved by his home state to own and operate a potentially dangerous piece of machinery in the course of his usual daily business. The several States have agreed to honor SDLs issued by other States.
This set of facts forces me to pause, and go "hrmn..."
I say Georgia should immediately cease respecting DRIVER'S LICENCES issued by such States, and immediately arrest those drivers and impound their cars, until such time as their States of residence choose to adopt a more enlightened and Constitutional attitude.

I like the idea, Southern states start jacking around Mass, NY, Conn, and NJ travelers. There are a helluva lot more Yankees traveling here in the South than there are Southerners traveling up there. So harrassing legal gun owners advances the cause of CCW? How so?

Scroll down to text:
"The conclusion is thus inescapable that the history, concept, and wording of the second amendment to the Constitution of the United States, as well as its interpretation by every major commentator and court in the first half century after its ratification, indicates that what is protected is an individual right of a private citizen to own and carry firearms in a peaceful manner."
Note: " . . . . that what IS protected IS an individual right . . . "
Sounds like a pretty good definition of what "IS" is to me.

PING!
To: Eastbound
thanks and thanks, but that is still not quite the same animal.
CCW = Carry Concealed Weapon, on one's person, for the purpose of self-defense by means up to and including use of lethal force.
That "in a peaceful manner" gives the Leftists too much weasel-room.

"That "in a peaceful manner" gives the Leftists too much weasel-room." 'Here lies the bones of a peaceful man
Killed very unjustly when chased by a van
Of murderous thugs through the streets of the city
Obeying a stop-sign, he was shot -- what a pity!

I really do want something closely hewing to this notion floated in one or more State Congresses. I do not expect that it'd have a hope of passing, but it's shock the socks off of the sheeple. Please harrass your local congresscritters.
Thanks, KP
Some of those of us in the Free State Project have had something right up this alley in mind for some time now. And it's not only our congresscritters, but those state representatives, of which NH has some 400, who have a voice in such state policies.
Let me know if you'd care to be added to the ping list for FSP-related articles.

I inherited my Father-In-Law's revolver that was from WWII. I was flying out of Chicago Midway and I had to declare it. It was kind of nice to know the law was there as I smiled at the Chicago Police Officer who was standing a couple of feet away.
The law didn't help a truck driver who was in a pretty bad accident. They found his loaded shotgun laying in the median and they arrested him after he left the emergency room.

It is a waste of energy to be passive-aggressive.

Tennesseans were told the reason the CCW was not honored in Mississippi and when the taxpayers went back to Tennessee and there was some answers the Lawmakers had to come up with. But again, we are talking about the arrogant liberal gun hating Massachusetts legislature in your case. In your case, your local representatives don't give a rats ass about your 2nd Amendment rights. The Tennesseans changed their dance after a few of their constituents climbed over them. Again, I don't see it happening in Massachusetts unless you are a homosexual applying for a marriage license and a CCW permit.

1. I have no idea how to lobby.
2. I suspect lobbying requires time and money - lots of both, neither of which have I much of.
3. I strongly suspect that lobbying another state to change its laws would require political and personal leverage on top of time and money, and I have NONE of that.
4. A cross-license punitive reciprocity policy of the sort I envision would give a state a massive club to wield. Without such a club, why would New York listen to Georgia? I'd call using such a club AGGRESSIVE-aggressive.
5. I do know that a fair number of Georgia lawmakers have a sense of humor perverse enough that they might float this notion, even back it, because it puts a smile on their faces and discomfits their esteemed enemies on the floor. I am assuming that those of you who live in other states know of like men in your own congressses.
6. Floating this idea here and elsewhere requires no energy I require for other endeavors - it beats sitting on the couch watching CNN, yes?
7. Infecting the Net-pop (and, through them, the gen-pop) with this idea is worth that small expenditure of effort. That is how grassroots movements start, after all: with the publication and discussion of new ideas.

Courts would never go for it. Not that it matters, because neither will your state legislature.
