Sorry, but calling Frangipane and others as religious wierdos is unbecoming. Intercessors and prophets have always spoken out warnings and unfortunately most people wouldn't believe them, just deride them as you are doing. We are in a time in the life of our country that we need to be listening to the prophets. God is trying to warn us through these men and women of God. It would behoove us all to start listening.

AMEN, Quix. I used to have a mug that I gave away to some people who needed it: "Don't let the turkeys get you down." Sorry I don't have anymore to send to YOU. Love, Maryxxx

Quix's biggest mistake on this thread was responding to the 'pooh poohers'. That made them successful in distracting from the thread.

While prayer is always good, knowledge is just as important. Hence is why we were blessed with a frontal lobe ^-^

Anyway, I don't see how an actual nuclear bomb could be successfully delivered and detonated anywhere on our soil, a dirtly bomb is more of a possibility.

Dirty bombs have three components to worry about:

blast
fragmentation
latent ionizing radiation.

The blast will be effective in a very, very short area around the explosion. Explosions on TV and movies use zip-lock bags filled with gasoline and something called detonation cord (det cord is about twice the size of plastic coated clothes line). They put lots of these little baggies of gas wrapped twice in det cord in a long string everywhere. On cue from the director they touch off the det cord exploding it in a long line at well over 20,000 feet a second vaporizing the gas then igniting it. This looks cool, but doesn't do any real work to speak of. They show it in slow motion and from various angles over and over again to milk it for full effect. A real explosion from a real bomb and the casualties from the blast will be long since finished in one second. The blast wave looks like a big ice-cream cone so it's force goes up and away, remember, explosives are generally lazy and will always take the path of least resistance which is up and away from you.

Fragments are parts of the bomb, what it was packed in, and anything laying loose around it. These fragments (called shrapnel incorrectly by most people) will loose speed and power at an amazing rate. Just because you're near it doesn't mean you're going to be hurt. Consider the bombers in Israel blowing themselves up with large charges and lots of intentional fragments in crowded places. The vast majority of people there aren't hurt. 99% of the whole fragment danger period will last one or two seconds literally.

Now we're down to the "Dirty," part. The anthrax in the Hart building in Washington, DC was passive; meaning the decontamination crews had to go find it. The good news for us is the contamination will lead cleanup crews (using a Geiger counter) to itself like a beacon. The government will probably be passing out badges like the ones the girl at the dentist's office wears. They signal when you've had a minor exposure to ionizing radiation (did you know you get exposed to this stuff naturally every day?). If your badge changes color, you've had a minor exposure that will have no discernible effect on you. The clean up crews will check the places where the most badges change the fastest after an initial clean up period. If you're exposed during the initial attack a warm shower and washing your clothes will erase the danger. You need long term exposure to a lot of this stuff to have it harm you twenty years from now. Even if you're near a dirty bomb you are still more likely to be killed by a drunk driver.

Dirty bombs are "The," non-event of the year. It's a terror weapon, designed to let everyone's imagination scare the bejeepers out of them with their own worst fears. When we get scared, when we make new laws, when we alter our lives; the bad people win. Right now those boys are giggling and laughing at how we're reacting to their threats. If you want to help in the war on terror, only worry about things that have happened in your immediate area. If you can throw a rock and have it hit the danger, then be concerned (leave). Don't give them the satisfaction of being scared until we've got something right here-right now to be scared of.

And keep praying. This is a religious war. Just don't let yourself be terrorized.

Thanks, Calpernia, for the info. I felt it would be more of a dirty bomb than an actual nuclear bomb, unless it comes in on board a cargo ship. Anything's possible.

I don't live in fear of terror. I suppose if it was in my back yard like it is in Israel, I would have cause to worry some but I just trust the Lord to take care of me. If I die, I know where I'm going. I hope everyone does. That gives peace. Love, Maryxxx

Interesting thread. Thanks for posting, Quix. Good comments, Mary & Calpernia. I'm praying, too.

Just one verse from yesterday morning's scripture study:

Proverbs 19:21 Many are the plans in a man's heart,
but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails.

God bless America, and especially those we have chosen to lead us through these troubled times!

SO SORRY ABOUT YOUR SISTER.

As I recall, I proclaimed her forgiven based on The Scripture about whatsoever we forgive on earth etc. . .

I proclaimed her forgiven and asked God to make Himself real to her even if it was on her death bed--way back the first time you mentioned her for prayer.

I just know God is looking for Biblical 'excuses' to save people vs reasons to damn them. That's His nature.

Mercy triumphs over judgment. He wrote that.

THANKS TONS FOR YOUR SEVERAL ENCOURAGMENTS HEREON. MUCH, MUCH APPRECIATED AS EVER. So comforted that you know me as well as you seem to!

Blessings,

Agree.

Am not likely to as long as God gives me breath and energy to do so.

The best to you as you keep on keeping on, too.

Guess I'll have to throw you a new mug on the wheel.

Do you like purplish red; royal, cobalt blue; and/or white the most and in what proportions or some such percentage wise for each color?

How tall would you like the mug and how wide? What design motifs would you prefer? Any favorite Scripture? Do you have big hands or tiny hands?

Do you tend to grab a mug handle with 2, 3 or 4 fingers? Are you left-handed or right handed?

Don't hold your breath about when. But probably in the next 6-9 months I'd be honored to get you one.

It can have the turkey thing on it unless you want a different motif. It could even have 3 sort of panels on it. Or the turkey thing could be on the bottom and other design motifs on the side.

A lot of people have liked my wave designs in a Japanese wave line drawing sort of style with Chinese cloud half circles on the top. Others have liked my Aspen tree design though that can take longer--which is OK--JUST A WARNING. And I haven't found some greens that I'm happy with yet in this pottery studio at the college.

Then there's abstract, geometric and other sorts of things I've found God can enable me to do without my ever having any drawing lessons. PRAISE GOD! And I get relaxation and 'therapy' on top of it all.

Blessings,

I do believe she knew the Lord, but backslid. I think in her last few months, she drew closer to Him. The two young men who lived next door and who took her in to live with them seemed to have some knowledge of God and the Holy Spirit and I am so grateful to them for caring for her in her last months.

I'll let you decide what to put on the mug. Something Christian would be nice. I love cobalt blue or purple (royalty colors you know!) Thank you for doing that. I will treasure it, my FRiend. Maryxxx

Amen, Hegemony Cricket. We can have peace but we also need to be much aware of what's going on in the spiritual realm. Only God can reveal that to us. Maryxxx

I thank God for President Bush. I know he was anointed by God for such a time as this. Do I agree with all he does, no. But I love his heart. He has so much love and compassion for people and he is steadfast and a man of integrity and truthfulness. Once he gets on a course, he stays on it. He doesn't waffle back and forth like the nine ninnies. We ARE blessed to have him. Maryxxx

I agree with you 100%. And one thing people don't realize, he does do things we don't agree with because in order to get backing on one issue, he does have to degotiate out on others. So if he does things we don't agree with, we may not understand what he had to negotiate out in order to get support on another issue.

Reading through your post again: I'm right handed and use three fingers mostly. I'm 5/7 so my hands could be considered reasonably large. I like a fair sized mug but nothing too large. That's clear, huh? Isaiah 41:10 is my life verse. Thanks, Quix. I will look forward to your beautiful creation. Maryxxx

tHANKS FOR YOUR KIND REPLIES . . .

So . . . 4.5-6" high; 3-4" diameter?

Thanks for the inputs.

Glad to hear about the folks who took your sister in.

Health, healing, wholeness to you as you sacrificially serve Him!.

Blessings,

I checked myself last night when I was drinking my nightly cuppa tea and I use two fingers to hold my cup. The measurements sound fine. Thank you for your kindness towards me as always, Quix.

They will be bringing my sister's ashes up from FL this week. I hope they will have a service for her. I've been practicing a great song called "I can only imagine." It's all about heaven. Have you heard it?

Bless you, dear Quix. Maryxxx

THANKS MARY,

I have heard a bit of it--not all the way through. Will try and get a copy.

Getting Christian music that is great to listen to has become very problematic for me. FAMILY CHRISTIANS STORES here has a lot of music. Finding CD's which do not have a loud drum or bass guitar beat (which too often tends to foster a headache with me) . . . and CD's which have words that are not a race to keep up with or comprehend . . . finding such CD's has become very difficult and frustrating. Finding majestic Christian music seems virtually impossible any more.

I haven't searched sufficiently online to have exhausted that option and I will. But at the moment, I feel very frustrated about Christian music--especially contemporary Christian music.

I don't need it to be 'elevator music' levels of easy listening. But I need it to be melodious and with words few and slow enough to be able to reflect at least slightly on them as the song goes along. RAP style machine gun lyrics are increasingly offensive regardless of how Scriptural or constructive. Sigh.

Probably I'm the odd person out on this score as I am on a lot of others.

Thanks for the much info.

Going to pottery next to see if the latest are out of the kiln.

Blessings,
