Homeland Security Issues Highest Terror Threat Level Prevailing Prayer A Necessity At This Critical Time Al Qaeda Warns Of "Biggest Operation In The United States"

HOMELAND SECURITY ISSUES HIGHEST TERROR THREAT LEVEL TO U.S. LAW ENFORCEMENT AND SECURITY PERSONNEL -

(Associated Press; WorldNetDaily.com, by Paul Sperry, Washington Bureau Chief, 11/24/03)

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has announced to the public that the nation's current terror threat level stands at yellow, or elevated, indicating there is only a significant risk of terrorist attacks. But, behind the scenes, it has directed federal and state law enforcement, as well as security personnel to initiate protective measures under its highest threat level - red - a condition when there is an imminent risk of terrorist attacks.

Marked "For Official Use Only," a five-page memo from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security was distributed Friday to federal departments and agencies, as well as state security managers and first responders. The Homeland Security memo warns that al-Qaeda might launch attacks "near the end of Ramadan (Nov. 24-27)," which happens to coincide this year with the Thanksgiving holiday.

Also, the State Department issued a "worldwide caution" for Americans traveling abroad, urging they "maintain a high level of vigilance" for possible terrorist attacks.

The memo advised federal agencies to initiate emergency counter terrorism measures to prevent possible al-Qaeda car bombings planned during the last days of the Muslim holiday Ramadan. Citing al-Qaeda's "increasingly sophisticated" car-bombing tactics, it recommends security guards tow all vehicles parked illegally in and around government facilities, if their owners cannot be identified, and inspect the undercarriage and other areas of vehicles entering sensitive areas, among other high-threat protective measures.

___________

I WILL SAY OF THE LORD, "HE IS MY REFUGE AND MY FORTESS, MY GOD, IN WHOM I TRUST." SURELY HE WILL SAVE YOU FROM THE FOWLERS SNARE AND FROM THE DEADLY PESTILENCE. - Psalm 91:2,3

____________

Although the department memo states: "We have no tactical information identifying timing, targets, tactics or locations for these operations," it goes on to say that "recent information" and attacks reflect "al-Qaeda's desire to repeat a mass casualty attack and/or strike major political and symbolic and economic targets" in America.

Al-Qaeda could also target "liquid natural gas, chemical or petrochemical sites near major population centers using multiple vehicle-born improvised explosive devices similar to those recently seen in the attacks in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and Istanbul, Turkey," warns the internal department advisory titled, "Continued al-Qaeda Threats Abroad and in the Homeland."

The Department memo notes there has been at least one major terrorist attack resulting in substantial casualties each week over the past several weeks, and that the attacks have coincided with Ramadan. "These terrorist bombings, coupled with public proclamations regarding al-Qaeda's intentions to target Western interests, heighten our concern that a threat against the U.S. homeland and U.S. interests abroad continues," the document states.

PREVAILING PRAYER A NECESSITY AT THIS CRITICAL TIME - Ask the Lord to act in HIs own displeasure toward those who would strike terror into the earth. (Ezekiel 32:22-25; Psalm 7:11-16) Pray that He would root out and bring terrorists to justice. Pray that the Lord would show mercy, expose and thwart terrorist schemes, grant wisdom, discernment and protection to all in authority working to prevent terrorist attacks.

Let us continue to pray for the exposure and apprehension of Saddam Hussein, his Ba'ath loyalist leaders and al Qaeda terrorist leaders and fighters. Intercede for the protection of ambassador Bremer and his staff.

Pray for the protection of all Christians, and of all citizens, Coalition forces and humanitarian aid workers in Baghdad and Iraq - there is a network of 4,000 indigenous Iraqi UN-related food relief workers.

Let us affirm the finished work of Christ over all officials and all demonic forces and that "no weapon formed against the purposes of God will prosper." (Rev 1:5; Col 1:12-18, 2:15; Is 54:17). Ask the Lord to reveal and implement His "whole armor," grant wisdom, and show how free Iraqis and Coalition leaders and forces are to cooperate and to "stand" together. (Eph 6:13)

Let us petition the Lord of Hosts to deploy the angelic forces necessary to "clear the spiritual air," execute the "judgments" the Lord has decreed, protect human life, bring peace and order, constitutional good government, and the redemption and reconstruction He is intending for the Iraqi people(s). (Ps 2:6-12; 91:11-12; 1 Tim 2:2-5)

AL QAEDA WARNS OF "BIGGEST OPERATION IN THE UNITED STATES"; U.S. MUSLIMS URGED TO "TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE SHORT TIME LEFT" TO ESCAPE HARM'S WAY - Al Qaeda marked Eid al Fitr, the festival closing the Muslim festival of Ramadan, with a dramatic warning. According to DEBKAfile, (www.debka.com), an international terrorism and intelligence website, a message published over al Qaeda's electronic channels and websites declared that the countdown has begun for the biggest operation ever carried out in the U.S. "The big blow will fall very shortly. It will consist of a series of surprise attacks that will cut America off from communication with its armies in Muslim countries." The reference is clearly to U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. The largest number, around 115,000 soldiers, is present in Iraq. Muslims living in the! U.S. are urged by the Al Qaeda warning to "take advantage of the short time left" to escape the country and harm's way.

Some of the messages say that a new Osama bin Laden videotape will soon be out. It will also carry statements by al Qaeda members who executed the last suicide attacks in Saudi Arabia and adherents who died in clashes with Saudi security. They will be shown describing how they were prepared for action. Bin Laden will intersperse these cuts with comments explaining the selection of Saudi targets. Some of the new messages are signed by Abu Assam al Yamani, who also threatens to murder Abdul Rahman Rashid, editor of the Saudi London-based paper Sharq al Awsat. Al Yamani says the al Qaeda passed sentence of death against the editor because he not only met President George W. Bush in the British capital last week but also interviewed him and appeared with the president in a joint photo.

One issue was saying he put this in breaking news when he didn't.

The other issue is whether info. from AP & WorldNet renders a news piece a matter of extended news. It just might.

The other is that you don't understand the religious forum. It's primarily theological and this piece isn't. It's about an alert level and some want to pray about it.

I will admit my language got excessive and I apologize.

There is a mentality afoot that Believers are obligated to roll over, play dead, behave as wimps to the extreme etc.

And when the attitude on the other side gets excessive, it often seems that some sort of strong assertion in response is the only thing that will faze their antennae. I don't know that that is any excuse. I prefer to be Christ-like and loving even to my enemies.

And this whole issue of obvious hostility to any hint of relgiosity or God involved in public life or the discussions of the public square is part and parcel of playing victim to the same Constitution destroying forces that have been sliding us downt he yellow brick slide for decades. And I increasingly have a short fuse about kowtowing to such Commie idiocy.

If you think WackyKat does not fit that description as hostile to issues related to God being involved in discussions in the public square, then I'm at a loss for words.

If I had excerpted this:

. . . out of the message Francis sent to me

And put Francis' comments etc. in my comments section--or omitted them entirely, you'd not have had a leg to stand on. And, actually, I don't believe you do, anyway.

My responsibility is only to post as best I can, given the info etc. I have at the time.

I'm not that responsible whether a thread becomes popular or not.

I try to respond meaningfully and authentically to replies. I even try to be more than civil to opponents though I don't always succeed.

I often get far less courtesy than I extend.

I didn't really construe your posts as warm fuzzy caring extensions in my direction. Please forgive my oversight.

One issue was saying he put this in breaking news when he didn't.

True. My mistake. It was posted in Extended News. BUT--it was posted as News that the threat level was elevated to Red. That's not honest.

The other issue is whether info. from AP & WorldNet renders a news piece a matter of extended news. It just might.

I don't think so. I think the whole thing is rendered as a scare tactic, and I think the moderators were wise to deal with it as they did. I can't believe this was posted as news at all, but the moderators have no initial control over that.

The other is that you don't understand the religious forum. It's primarily theological and this piece isn't. It's about an alert level and some want to pray about it.

I want to pray about a lot of things, one of which is ignorance and the over-reaction which stems from that. What happened here was wrong, and the mods caught it. They not only relegated it to the religion forum but ultimately relegated it to chat. Deal with it.

SIGH. Enjoying yourself?

Man...I started that post about an hour ago. I searched and searched for the right image...it had to be black and white, mad-scientist-looking, with an auger like contraption aimed at the sky or something...

I went to Tesla pages, I came across a machine that shoots 2X4's through steel, footage of an exploding whale... but just couldn't find the right image...sorry.

SCARE TACTIC?

HOGWASH.

I shared it as information. Given my knowledge of Francis, I have every reason to believe the information.

It is at least as valid as a LOT of other "NEWSWORTHY" information on the subject posted every day hereon. There is no valid, rational reason to categorize it otherwise.

You may have a LONG LIST OF BIAS 'REASONS' to do so--but that's another issue.

No, Quix, you posted questionable information in captital letters (missing some letters), telling us that the terror alert had gone up to RED.

What followed was a stream-of-consciousness kind of explanation from some guy from a narrow branch of Christianity. I don't find that to be very honest, and in fact, I find that to be dishonest and alarmist.

It's mean, and by mean I'm defining that in a couple of different definitions of the term. What you did was wrong. Shame on you. Shame!

BIO:

Francis Frangipane's Bio

Francis Frangipane gave his life to Jesus Christ on November 26, 1970 in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Five months later he met his wife-to-be, Denise Piscitelli and led her to the Lord. In October of 1971 they were married.

In 1972 Francis and Denise received ministerial training at Grace Chapel in Southern California; by early fall they had moved to Hilo, Hawaii to start a church. Their little work grew to about 25 people, most of whom they had personally led to Christ. They also had their first child during this time.

After fourteen months, however, they felt their task in Hawaii was complete. A church in the Detroit, Michigan area offered them a pastoral position. For the remainder of the seventies, they led a small church of approximately 100 people; they also planted eight churches and home groups in southeastern Michigan and Ontario, Canada.

They relocated to Iowa in 1980 where, with the addition of four more natural children and a Vietnamese foster child, their family grew to eight. These were hard times. Francis was self-employed and the family was very poor. It was during this time that Francis taught himself to write. It was also a three year season of being shut in with God; the only spiritual food that nourished him was from the words of Christ in the gospels.

In 1982 the opportunity to pastor a church in the Cedar Rapids area was offered to the Frangipanes. After a season of prayer, they accepted this new assignment. Pastor Francis soon found himself united with several other pastors who met in one another's sanctuaries for monthly prayer. After three years, the founding minister of this prayer group left the city, and in 1985 Francis and another local pastor picked up the prayer initiative. They opened it up for intercessors as well and increased their times together from monthly to weekly. The group soon multiplied, which led to many other citywide events.

During this time, Pastor Frangipane began to write in earnest. His first book, Holiness, Truth and the Presence of God, was a compilation of a collection of his essays and sermons. It was published in 1985. He wrote his second book, The Three Battlegrounds, in 1989 when asked to speak on spiritual warfare at a conference in Kansas City. Both these books became best sellers. Since 1985 he has written 11 books and a number of study booklets.

Currently, Francis serves as senior minister of River of Life Ministries in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He also travels throughout the world, uniting thousands of pastors in hundreds of cities.

Francis' heartfelt prayer is to see the Lord fulfill His call to His church, and that He will continue to give grace until, in every city, Christlike pastors and intercessors are standing before God for their communities.
