~The Dragon Flies' Lair V~

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guides
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and I...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Pearl Harbor Attack, 7 December 1941

In the darkest of moments
a nation is wounded,
rights herself
and pushes on.
Her wounds give her strength
and urge her on to victory.

Time passes,
the wound heals
but leaves a mark.
The mark is her reminder
of what has been and could be again.
She does not forget.

12/7 and 9/11

The smoke hangs over the oil slick waters,
lapping around the hulks of once proud ships.
And we must tell the sons and daughters,
the lost died with freedom on their lips.

Ships burned to the water edge and all the souls inside,
and we watched the brutal aftermath of evil’s blow.
Sunday was chosen to catch us a sleep as souls abide,
and because of our faithful ways, evil was swift to flow.

They struck while men lay asleep and living only peace,
and evil brought all Hell to earth, and killed them needlessly.
And we must rise and stand up to them until the evil ceases,
hunting them with chilling skill and hardened hearts unceasingly.

A blindside blow without honor or pride,
the act of cowards and evil hearts at work.
Sets our course and points the way we ride,
straight into the evil heart, to strike with freedom’s dirk.

Not allowed to go our own peace loving way,
they thoughtlessly forced a different path.
And we had to awaken and rise and to slay,
the evil ones who awoke us and our awesome wrath.

The smoke hangs over the broken towers along the great harbor waters,
like a shroud over a mass grave of gentle souls it abides.
And we must tell the wives and husbands, sons and daughters,
the lost will not be forgotten to political needs aside.

The towers burned in the morning sky and all the souls inside,
and we watched the brutal aftermath of evil’s blow.
Tuesday was chosen to catch us asleep as souls abide,
and because of our faithful ways, evil was swift to flow.

They struck while folks arrived at work and living only peace,
and evil brought all Hell to earth, and killed them needlessly.

Forget not, pardon not, compromise not, cease not,
until evil by any name is dust blowing in history.
Stand up, brace up, bear up, hold up,
the values that made America so worthy.

Let not the isolationist and the cowardly,
form political bridges for the enemies of us all.
Let Americans hold to all we are humbly,
and take down evil when America calls.

Fire of the Hearts

Sweet your eyes this precious night,
your breath a fire upon my skin.
Your hands explore me like old friends so light,
touching, teasing me to new heights again.

We burn in a single flame that welds us as one,
our breaths like bellows to the forge, rasp with heat.
Your nails leave tracks of passion on my back, how they do run,
and I feel them not in this moment so shattering sweet.

Gasping on the edge of obliteration we embrace,
and hold this second's span as long as we can.
To fall in tumbling collapse upon the sheets, to end the race,
and find the peace of satisfaction so previously ban.

Beyond the heavens
the planets and stars
awaken in loud
breaking light
time is crossed out

our hopes of a calm
heaven patiently
and sanely end tonight
a moon watcher desired true love...
