Nah. Cops spend most of their time attempting to fill their revenue qoutas. It's sad that cops have been turned into tax (fines, traffic tickets, etc.) collectors for local governments.

Yeah, because people don't ever actually break the rules of the road.

Look, I would rather law enforcement officers be out putting their boot on some rapist's nuts or their elbow into a batter's throat, but they can't do that either. It would hurt the criminals feelings and lower their self esteem.

Sounds like you got busted and still aren't over it. I understand your pain, trust me, but there are very few cases where an officer trumps up a traffic violation just so he/she can write you a $50 ($75, $100, etc.) ticket.

Are there some cities or counties that take traffic enforcement too far? Yes. I live about 15 miles from one called Waldo, Florida. The major revenue generation for the city is traffic violations. But, in large part and across the country, if you got a ticket, you deserved it.

Don't get made at a cop for doing their job. Take your ticket like man, go to traffic school, buy a radar detector (and a scanner?), and go on with your life.
