Our first son went through high school with what is called medically "delayed puberty". He didn't even hit puberty until he was in the middle of his senior year.
He was off the charts, we worried a lot. He weighed less than 110 lbs. his senior year and was only 5'2" tall. It was a tough time for him, but he finally grew. It was pretty traumatic for him back then cause he was an extremely good athlete and on a lot of sports teams.
I hope you do not think I was demeaning short persons, of either gender.
Do you remember that song in the seventies that had the line (or maybe it was the title) "short people have no reason to live". We just laughed when we heard it.
