Corrected' Jamie Rivera album to be released Posted: 10:41 PM (Manila Time) | Aug. 26, 2003 By Marinel R. Cruz Inquirer News Service

EXECUTIVES of Star Records, which produced Jamie Rivera's "Seasons" album of inspirational songs, have ordered that the album be issued again, this time with the corrected lyrics of one song.

Another record company, BMG Music, earlier claimed that the song had been "altered" in Rivera's album and that the song's legal owners were not acknowledged.

Heinrich Ngo of Star Records marketing division said the alteration of the lyrics of Rivera's version of "My Life is in Your Hands," written by Kathy Troccoli, was merely the result of typographical errors.

"A repackaged 'Seasons' album, which will include the corrected lyrics, will be out in October," Ngo on Tuesday told Inquirer Entertainment. "It will also contain the corrected names of the composers." (NOTE: The name was poorly misspelled each time nobody caught it for nearly two years before I sent the letter to catch the violation.)

Ngo said the order to repackage "Seasons" came from Star Records vice president for operations Annabelle Regalado and managing director Enrico Santos.

The move was prompted by a letter that Bobby Chang had sent to BMG Pilipinas. Chang said Star Records not only failed to give credit to Careers-BMG Publishing Inc. and Floating Note Music, owner of the rights to the Troccoli song, but also altered the lyrics of the song and "grossly misspelled" the names of its composers.

Troccoli and Bill Montvilo composed and released the song in 1994 in Troccoli's self-titled album.

"It's not true that we did not give credit to BMG Records," said Ngo. "In fact, I have with me the payment for the right to use the song. The check will be sent to BMG Pilipinas anytime this week." (NOTE: Ngo should have said BMG Music -- Careers-BMG is the publishing agent.)

Ngo said Rivera will promote the repackaged album in a concert titled "Seasons of Love" at the Sto. Domingo Church in Quezon City on Oct. 20, with the University of Santo Tomas 13-piece string orchestra.

The repackaged album will also contain two Christmas songs and "Let There Be Peace on Earth" by Sy Miller and Jill Jackson, according to Ngo.
