NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Dixie Chicks singer Natalie Maines, whose criticism of President Bush last spring led to boycotts of the group's music, still has a lot to say about the war in Iraq.
"I think people were misled and I think people are fighting a war that they didn't know they were going to be fighting," Maines said Friday on NBC's Today Show. "And I think they were misled by people who should have been asking questions and weren't."
The country stars faced criticism and even death threats after Maines said she and her bandmates were ashamed that President Bush was from Texas. She made the remark in London shortly before the war began.
Though Maines apologized for the phrasing of her remark, some radio stations banned the group's music. The group also received death threats in the wake of Maines' comments.
Maines said Friday she did not feel vindicated by how the war has unfolded: "I would have liked to have been proven wrong."
The band's recent concert tour was one of the year's most successful, but Maines said it is too early to predict the long-term fallout.
As for the backlash, she said, "We like making music and we'll continue to do that whether people buy it or not."
The Dixie Chicks on Friday released, "Top Of The World Tour Live," their double CD set and DVD.

"they are useful idiots to the aging red diaper babies and their newer version of facially mutilated ANSWER clones." Yeah, that's true. But I wonder why artsie types (of which I am one), who see themselves as "free spirits," are alway so eager to embrace totalitarian political philosophy. Maybe in their self importance they see themselves as elite, who knows. But there must be a logical reason for it.
btw, what's with the twin Beech?

Also, this begs the question, would Maines have approved of the war if it could have been accomplished easily? Or would she not have approved of removing Saddam under any circumstances? Or would she have approved of such a thing only under Democrat leadership?
For myself, I thought it was worth doing even if it was difficult, if it was at all possible, which I believe it was.

Yes, President Bush just made up the whole WMD problems in regards to Iraq. Everyone knows that Iraq posed no threat even though the regime had a history of using the WMDs, seeking them, invading sovereign nations and being at war with the USA, shooting at our airplanes, threatening the USA, supporting terrorism and celebrating 9/11. Yes, Iraq was no threat at all. Just a lie. She is obviously incapable of serious thought or reason. She is blinded by her hate of President Bush and excusal of Saddam Hussein. Her comment in Britain clearly showed the personal nature of it all. She is a liar as she is not sincere in being anti-war, only anti-war when a Republican is President.

Maines said Friday she did not feel vindicated by how the war has unfolded: "I would have liked to have been proven wrong." She was asked if she felt vindicated by how the war unfolded...then she replied. Can't you just hear Katie asking the question???
