Box of Rain

Grateful Dead - Words by Robert Hunter; music by Phil Lesh

Look out of any window
any morning, any evening, any day
Maybe the sun is shining
birds are winging or
rain is falling from a heavy sky -

What do you want me to do,
to do for you to see you through?
this is all a dream we dreamed
one afternoon long ago

Walk out of any doorway
feel your way, feel your way
like the day before
Maybe you'll find direction
around some corner
where it's been waiting to meet you -

What do you want me to do,
to watch for you while you're sleeping?
Well please don't be surprised
when you find me dreaming too

Look into any eyes
you find by you, you can see
clear through to another day
I know it's been seen before
through other eyes on other days
while going home --

What do you want me to do,
to do for you to see you through?
It's all a dream we dreamed
one afternoon long ago

Walk into splintered sunlight
Inch your way through dead dreams
to another land
Maybe you're tired and broken
Your tongue is twisted
with words half spoken
and thoughts unclear

What do you want me to do
to do for you to see you through
A box of rain will ease the pain
and love will see you through

Just a box of rain -
wind and water -
Believe it if you need it,
if you don't just pass it on
Sun and shower -
Wind and rain -
in and out the window
like a moth before a flame

It's just a box of rain
I don't know who put it there
Believe it if you need it
or leave it if you dare
But it's just a box of rain
or a ribbon for your hair
Such a long long time to be gone
and a short time to be there

Above are lyrics from one of my favorite Grateful Dead songs. Just thought I would share the lyrics with you. I know there aren't alot of Conservative Deadheads, but I am one of them :-)

A new young blonde bride calls her mother in tears. She sobs, "Robert doesn't appreciate what I do for him."

"Now, now," her mother comforted, "I am sure it was all just a misunderstanding."

"No, mother," the young woman laments. "I bought a frozen turkey loaf and he yelled at me about the price."

"Well, that is being miserly," the mother agreed, "Those turkey rolls are only a few dollars."

"No, mother it wasn't the price of the turkey roll, it was the airplane ticket."

"Airplane ticket.... What did you need an airplane ticket for?"

"Well mother, when I went to fix it, I looked at the directions on the back and it said, 'PREPARE FROM A FROZEN STATE,' so I flew to Alaska."

*Don't forget this year to keep the One who started this whole Christmas thing in your every thought, deed, purchase, and word. If we all did it, just think of how different this whole world would be. The Reason For The Season!*

Yes!! A great reminder! I'm going to try to remember it each day of the upcoming holi(holy)day season.

No comment, I'll get in trubble.

Instead, this:

A song, from the game Gran Turisimo.

The Cardigans - "Paralyzed"

This is where your sanity gives in
and love begins
Never lose your grip
don't trip
don't fall
you'll lose it all
The sweetest way to die
It lies deep inside
you can not hide
it's the meanest fire
Oh it's a strange desire
you can not lie
that's a needless fight
This is where your sanity gives in
and love begins
Never lose your grip
don't trip
don't fall
you'll lose it all
The sweetest way to die
When your blood runs dry
you're paralyzed
it will eat your mind
Did you hold it back
It comes to you in slow attacks
It's the meanest fire
This is where your sanity gives in
and love begins
Never lose your grip
don't trip
don't fall
you'll lose it all
This is where your sanity gives in
and love begins
Never lose your grip
don't trip
don't fall
you'll lose it all
This is where your sanity gives in
and love begins
Never lose your grip
don't trip
don't fall
you'll lose it all
The sweetest way to die

That's another wonderful poem and graphic that you shared with us today. Thank You!!

I spent the afternoon trying to prepare my plants for the big freeze tonight. Today was very nice after the wind quit blowing.

Hope you have a nice evening. See ya later!

MMMMM .... sounds good. Thank You for sharing that great recipe.

If it doesn't cure the cold, you won't care after several glasses! I may make some for the holidays, autumn cold or not.

Thank you .... I thought there would be those on FR who would enjoy that story.

The holidays get so hectic, we all need to step back and remember The Reason.

Thank you so much for freepmailing me this recipe. Sounds yummy, even if one didn't have a cold.

Your freepmail made me laugh........("Sheesh!", "Gesundheit!"). LOL! I needed that. Laughter is the best medicine.

A WOMAN'S SONG

You write with such insight, fish hawk. And, it seems to come so easily for you.

One of my favorite poems of yours was one I read about a year ago called "Cooking"......and, of course, that cute one you wrote about Mama_Bear (something about the porridge being too hot?). I know I saved it somewhere in a folder, but I have searched high and low and can't find it. :-(

Hi LIR! Been ages since I bumped into you!

Hope you and chads have a happy Thanksgiving. If you are going to be on the road, please be careful. We will be traveling up to Santa Rosa Wednesday evening. I am dreading the trip. I wish we didn't have to be on the road Thanksgiving Eve. Please let there be no fog!
