I'm sure it wasn't. Did you catch the way that Leno faked his surprise that it was John Kerry, and then Kerry whips around with this goofy "cool" grin to the crowd, and then says to Jay, "That was a good entrance."

What a joke.

Did you hear Leno say, "I want to hear the story straight from the horse's mouth...no pun intended."?

No one laughed, and Kerry pretended he didn't hear it.

I didn't hear the 'no pun intended,' but that's what I was thinking.

Actually, I went back and reviewed the tape and Jay said, "No pun in..." and then caught himself.

Agreed, he looked like an old uncharismatic jerk trying to look cool. He really looked so unhip. I saw footage of it later. Was this a last, pathetic gasp to simultaneously get the NASCAR Dads to want to be his buddy and the Soccer Moms to want to have an affair? I think he failed on both counts.

Rather than getting rid of his staff, he should just fire himself.

Also, continuously bringing up Vietnam and the recent Bo Sox loss in the AL Championship series is getting tiresome. Why does this perfumed Pierre feel the need to obsess over failure? That French bastard should be sunshine and good cheer for once in his morose life.

I almost never watch Leno. For one thing, it comes on at 11:35 here on the East Coast. For another (and more importantly), Leno has shown his true colors on many occasions regarding his political digs at Bush, whom he stil portrays as stupid. All digs at BJ Clinton involve sex, and I-X42 is probably proud of the remearks. Jokes about Gore are always only about his stiffness, a quality even Gore admits to.

Last night, because I was having trouble sleeping I turned on Leno after Toby Keith was into singing "I Love this Bar". That, apparently, was the end of the show. And Leno came over to shake hands with Keith and to sign off. I had no idea that Kerry had even been on until he hustled over to Keith to shake his hand. It happened very quickly, so I can't be positive, but I got the impression that Keith brushed him off because Kerry immediately turned toward one of the band members directly to the left of Keith and started talking up a storm. It even looked as if he had put his arm around the guy, but I couldn't be sure because the guy was out of camera range.

Did you see this part? Am I right abour Keith? (I hope I am.)

BTW, what was the "no pun" reference about?

I didn't see the part that you're talking about, but I can't imagine Keith and Kerry being pals, anyway.

Leno was asking Kerry about something, and Kerry wondered why, of all stories, Leno had to ask about this one. Leno said, "I want to hear it straight to (from) the horses mouth. No pun in..."

He then stopped himself, and Kerry pretended that he didn't hear it. No one laughed, but I sure did.

I guess I missed something. Has someone said Kerry looks like a horse, or what?

Yes, that's one of the jokes about Kerry (not as widespread as Lurch).
