I can't understand why people don't just shut up and leave...I agree- remember Twain's "better to keep quiet and be thought a fool, than open your mouth and remove any doubt?"

Those are questions I've wondered about myself. I judge the number of posts by doing a search of posts by member. Hopefully "somebody in the know" will see this and provide us with a better answer :).

In my opinion, we have a leftist here masquerading as a conservative. I have notice what I believe to be leftists attempts to infiltrate this board. Has Freerepublic become too influential regarding the struggle between liberal and conservative..Maybe.

Bush is an absolutely awesome president. We will be missing him after 2008.

There are many things I have seen change here at FR. Some good and some bad.
It is still the best place for news and to share collective thoughts with like-minded folks.

Is Bush the greatest thing since sliced bread? No. Is he more conservative than anyone else that ran for a major party in 2000? Yes. I support him when I think he is right and do not support his views when I think they are wrong. Do I spend all my time bashing Clinton and blaming all on him? No. I am more likely to blame the parts of the Republican party that are only partially distinguishable from the Left.
I guess that makes me an exception. But, you know what? I think I represent a large number of people on this board. So, if you are running away because no one is Conservative, you should really have looked harder.

Not to insult any of our fine female FReepers, but in cases like this whiner I always subconsciously think "her". I must confess that, absent clues in posts or screen name, I assume a poster is a white male. I'm sure Gloria Bunker Stivic would cry "Sexist Racist Pig!"
But I think it's just what one is used to. I'm pretty sure the plurality of conservatives is white and male. It took me the longest time to figure out Howlin was a woman, and that mhking is black. I think that's a credit to them, more than a reflection on me. I look at Condi Rice and I don't think 'black woman', I think 'competent person'. Why is that, I wonder? I look at Jesse Jackson and race is automatically on the table -- it's his bread and butter.

I've been on FR a lot longer than my member date indicates. I lost my original join date in a server up grade. Ever since I've been here, there have been leftys attacking FR. I lurked here for about a year before joining. I joined on the day of the March for Justice in DC. I joined that day because JimRob and most FReepers were away and the liberal leftys came out to play. They were overrunning the board with their garbage. There were only a few real FR members here trying to defend the forum from the leftys, so I joined and began posting to help beat them back. It was the worst day I've ever seen on FR for attacks from the left. But JimRob returned and it's never happened like that again. That day they were like angry bees, now they're just nuisance gnats.

Anyone who's concluded that any Windows OS "was and still is the best operating system ever" and who fails to detect the cloying sweetness of Diet Rite, (goto his recent posts in forum), is hardly the supreme arbiter of political commentary, web graphics or literary taste. Notwithstanding this, cmclay and I appear to be of a different analytical mindset, i.e., I concentrated in math--he, apparently, was unable to. (he required "a private tutor for math").... Clearly, this person has either a profound ignorance of the clintons, or a profound analytical defect. SAY "NO!" For you FReepers that know what I am talking about, this guy needs to go up to Alaska and sing his complaints to the local bears. Then check out their reaction.

I think all Opus posts should contain an embedded link to a MIDI file playing "The Battle Hymn of the Republic". That will provide a nice touch of the gravitas intended by the poster.
