One thing that is misleading in the article is the conflation of absolute oxygen pressure with partial pressure. At 14000 feet today (or 4593.1785 metres for the Europeans), the total pressure is quite low compared to sea level but the oxygen-nitrogen ratio is nearly the same. A low partial pressure of oxygen at sea level doesn't imply high-altitude conditions.

So was the Dodo bird, poor thing, it didn't have any natural predators, then these human beings came along with their dogs and their rats, and their cats, and the Dodo didn't have a chance.
Walk right up to one, knock on it's head and it was dinner time.
That's why they called it the Dodo bird.
Or so I've been told, the veracity or truth of the above statement may be questionable.

Well, metric does deal in round numbers.
One of my friends (formerly a shop teacher) said that metric or US units didn't matter; the diagonal of a square doesn't come out even anyway.

Even or whole? a square 3X4 has a diagonal of 5 which is odd and whole; a square of 2X3 has a diagonal of 3.60555 which is neither even nor whole.
To: Old Professer
3 x 4 is ususally considered to be a rectangle rather than a square.
