OK, what can we do to help? This thread as you know is frequented by members from around the country and further I imagine. They could be helpful in the coming days. Do we know which cities are still at risk and still on high alert besides the obvious ones?

Ah, lets get down to brass tacks...

Prepare, each of us as you see fit for yourselves, your families, loved ones, friends, relatives, neighborhood, etc. etc.

I advise getting one of these. It could be a belated Christmas present. Get a couple of them.

Definitely pick up some KI (potassium Iodide) tablets.

"OK, what can we do to help?"

Keep your eyes and ears open. No matter where you live, report anything strange. Anything. If you live in an area of high middle eastern ethnic make-up then give us a heads-up if they begin to be seen less frequently as they have been advised to leave the specific cities mentioned in this thread.

I am hearing persistent talk of this happening in Phoenix, AZ. Patterson, NJ and Dearborn, MI are others. Keep your eyes open. Little things do matter. Be observant.

Secondly you can help everybody be becoming self-reliant, do not expect the US government to protect you 100%. That will never happen. They will do their utmost, but they simply cannot do everything required. This is still an open society and just like 9/11 the islamofascists will use our openness against us.

Here's some text to read from former-Green Beret John Moore.
URGENT! URGENT! URGENT!: Critical Information

Family Safety in Perilous Times,
Surviving Terrorist Attacks

by John Moore

The events of September 11, 2001 were a wake-up call for all Americans. For us older folks, we were instantly reminded of other events and tragedies. The younger ones among us had a quick lesson in what's really important: our families, our close friends, our
homes. On the morning of 11 September 2001 business as usual ended. For that day and the following three days much of the country was glued to their TV's and radios. Those out of town on business trips were having real adventures securing ground transportation to return home. The events of that day, that week, literally changed our society.

Families grew closer together. Churches had an upward spike in their attendance. Not only did professional sports cease for a period; the athletes themselves made public comments about honoring the real heroes of our society, our firefighters, police and paramedics.
In the year since our national tragedy in September '01 a lot has transpired. Several facts strike me as worth pointing out and discussing:

1.) Our leaders in Washington D.C., without exception, have issued warnings to the American public that our enemies have both the desire and the means to attack us inside the USA with weapons of mass destruction.
2.) There is no governmental agency, at any level, local, state or federal, that can guarantee any individual American or families safety.
3.) It is up to individual families to take responsibility to care for themselves.

Point #1: As this is being written (the first week of December 2002), the federal government is doing trial runs on volunteers who are receiving the Smallpox vaccination. This is a prelude to the vaccination of 1 million Americans: 500,000 in the U.S. Military and 500,000 civilians who are health care professionals and considered to be "first responders" to any outbreak of Smallpox. The media is attempting to make "news" of the reactions the volunteers are having including high-fevers, stiff joints and missed days at work or school, all of which are both predictable and expected.

The smiling faces reading the news always end these segments by saying that a percentage of people receiving vaccinations will die. In case you've been on vacation in the wilderness the past six or eight months, we are about to go the war with the country of Iraq. To believe that this war isn't going to happen is wishful thinking.

You can't follow the news without realizing that every level of government is preparing to deal with mass casualties inside the U.S.A.

Point #2: Despite the best efforts of very well-intentioned and skilled officials in our various governmental agencies, it will be years before the population of the U.S.A. has a level of civil defense comparable to, say Switzerland.

Point #3: It should be abundantly clear to any mature adult, that we have a clear and present danger to every family in the USA and a personal responsibility to meet these challenges. Now, if I have made a clear and convincing argument, you, dear reader, are
ready for my message. Commence your familys preparations posthaste. Not next month, not next week, do it today. As this is being written, we have at least the luxury of time. This may actually be the case, or it may be an illusion.

So, where do we go from here? First of all, we have threat analysis. What are the most likely threats to your family in your locale? I hope you are past thinking about crashing airplanes and Anthrax in the mail. Our enemies fully intend to end the dominance
of the USA as a world power militarily, politically and economically. They intend to do this by any means necessary, up to and including, the use of nuclear weapons. One of the obvious targets is our infrastructure, in particular, the following industries: utilities, telecommunications, and transportation. Of these, the one that is most attractive would most likely be the national power grid. Electricity is the single most important element to life in the 21st century. It's really pretty simple: knock out America's electricity, knock out America.

Emergency preparations for any disaster have many elements in common. The first and most basic being that you must adopt an understanding that within minutes you could be totally on your own. No electricity, no public water or sewer, no telephone, no natural gas, no grocery store or gas station, no police, fire or ambulance service. If any of the above utilities or services survive for your use, so much the better. However, when it comes to your planning, you must prepare as if none will survive.

I do this for a living, helping people prepare. Giving presentations to groups of people. Consulting with corporations about their disaster plans. The basics are water, two gallons per person per day. Food enough to last for the duration you feel is prudent. Shelter - staying warm and dry on your own. Medical supplies, including prescription medications for those that must have them and any antibiotics you must have in case of a biological attack. Transportation including motor vehicles that are EMP-proof and stabilized fuel. Communications, and I'm not talking about cell-phones here. All it takes to knock out cell phone service is too many calls at the same time.

You must be prepared to be your own firefighter, para-medic and policeman. Failure to make these preparations including training and equipping yourself could have life-threatening consequences. While preparing to fight your own fires and save a life with a comprehensive aid-kit is a no-brainer for nearly everyone. The thought of being your own policeman is, for many men, something they simply cannot comprehend. Addressing this mindset for adult males who have been so feminized to the point that they do not understand their traditional role as defenders of their women and children is beyond the scope of this monograph. Gentlemen, there are men who will use force of arms to harm your children, steal your property and take your women. Your duty is to protect them by the use of deadly force, if necessary.

Thus far, I have covered a lot of territory. Let me give you some resources to help you on your way. First, the American Red Cross. These folks can help you get the training to save lives. No longer is first aid training just a day of learning basics (although they still offer this). Now you will get first responder training along with advanced CPR. While you won't be a para-medic after one of these courses, you will be able to help save a life.

We also have the various governmental agencies. The blue pages of your local telephone book should have a listing for the county level and a listing for FEMA (1-800-480-2520 option "A") While the various official publications are helpful they do have glaring deficiencies, mainly in the area of security, personal safety and long term scenarios. For example:

Even in the no-longer-available FEMA nuclear war publications virtually no guidance or help is offered for the people coming out of their shelters. FEMA publications pretty much leave you on your own for any long term scenario.
