Everyone I know is as prepared as possible for just about any eventuality. We're ready for condition: Elmo, and the resultant possible concomitant loss of communications, power, freedom of movement, etc.

This thread may become inaccessible. The internet may become unavailable. The codeword is "Freeper."

But I am conducting myself as if there is no threat; these grim times won't make me so grim as to relinquish my zest for life.

You are correct, many are going to go nuts without the internet and electric.

I hope that people will print off the info that is important for survival and not loose it when needed the most.

Of course, you have to not get carried away, with no storage on this machine, I printed about 50,000 pages over 3 years, so when the day of no electric comes, I will be able to find what is needed in a week or so.

Do go about the real life of living and have fun, it would be a shame to do otherwise.

I came out of retirement to inspect and remediate the local nuke plant and electrical grid. If the big fuss wasn't made, there would have been major problems.

All of the plants with the same design as the one I did, had done practically nothing when our team was finished.

I drove the project to completion, bowling over the union and the regulators, to finish in early spring.
Every one else was then able to piggyback on our work and got their places in shape without straining a braincell.

Y2k wasn't a hoax, it was alleviated because Americans rose to the occaision.

Hopefully, this terrorism crap will be handled too, in the same way, although our beauracracy is squarely in the way as usual.
