What's in the Works for Next Year? Heart Full of Lies, and Without Pity are Ann's 21st and 22nd books. She is already writing her 23rd book, one she has waited for for 22 years: The Green River Killer book--which has a working title of Green River Turned Red. Gary Leon Ridgway, 54, was arrested in November, 2001, and remains the prime suspect in the deaths of over fifty young women in the Northwest in the mid-eighties. He may well be the most prolific serial killer ever to prowl in America. In late summer, 2003, Green River Task Force members began spending weekends in a number of isolated sites around Seattle's suburbs, digging and sifting. So far, they have found five sets of remains, three of them known Green River victims who have been missing for over 20 years. The case is exploding with revelations. Ann has finally emptied her linen closet of boxes and boxes of research material she has saved on these cases.
She has had a contract to write about these long-unsolved murders for as long as she can remember, writing other books--more than she might have imagined--as King County Sheriff Dave Reichert and the Green River Task Force refused to give up what often seemed to be an ultimately frustrating investigation. As it turned out, Ridgway lived less than a mile from Ann's house. She will bring amazing insider knowledge to this book, as well as the view of serial murder in the Northwest that no one else knows as well as Ann does.
Ann welcomes correspondence from anyone who may know something about the Green River cases, and promises to keep your identity secret, either on 206-248-0811 or Ann Rule's email address. If she doesn't answer you right away, it will be because she is out on the book tour for Heart Full of Lies until mid-November. her website
