Microsoft Word - Help Needed (Vanity)
Posted on 10/30/2003 6:31:46 PM PST by flutters
Any word wizards out there? After saving a document or e-mailing a document I get strange characters that appear at the end of my letter/docs that I do not want. The gibberish doesn't show when I start a new page, but it does after I re-save. Here is what the junk at the end looks like:
Normal Normal Default Paragraph Font Default Paragraph Font HTML Preformatted HTML Preformatted HTML Typewriter HTML Typewriter 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 ÿ" :\My Documents\League Information\Letters.doc Unknownÿ! Times New Roman Times New Roman Symbol Symbol Verdana Verdana
(The junk above is shown on individual lines)
Any help would be appreciated.

O.K. then I am way-off and probably clueless about this one. I just hate the way codes are imported into Word via a simple copy and paste unless you use that damn paste special which is a pain in the rear to reformat the stuff. Gates had his head in his butt on this program. WordPerfect had him beat all the way around--too bad Word was what all the young'uns have grown up on because they don't know how a good program works and don't have a clue how to utilize the word processing programs elements.
Sorry for the rant!!

You can delete it, and it sometimes is necessary if it becomes corrupt. But a corrupt normal.dot file usually doesn't cause this, but it's worth a shot.
Close word, search all files and folders for normal.dot. delete it, then restart word and see if that helps.

I prefer Adobe PageMaker. Designing in Word is a real pain. I use it only for a few things...typing letters, formating my SARS Threads, and clip art. Word has its place, but using it for designing is useless.

Were you worried?

Naw. Freepers are smarter than that. However, any DUers that are lurking may have tried it!

O.K. so what is a DUer? Got me!!

Gosh, there for a minute I thought you might be referring to me but in that case--that wouldn't be possible!
To: Trout-Mouth
No way, I wasn't referring to you! Sorry 'bout that. I should've been more specific ~

Check when opening a file that it is opening as Word Document (*.doc)
and not as another file type, such as Recover Text from Any File (*.*)
