I think that women see his stuff one of two ways. Some, like one of the country music preformers said before the Manes-"Bush comment, feel that: "Toby has issues with women..." due to his lyrics. Others, perhaps more confident in themselves, see him as an honest "real man" and like his gusto, even if he isn't their particular brand of male star in appearance. Remember, their are still two buying days before the new one comes our...you might catch up with us.
I can see where some women would think that. In fact, the other day I think I heard him say the word "rescue" when singing about a girl or a relationship and that was my immediate reaction. (That word always gets my attention when someone says it in the context of a relationship because of the possible meaning behind it.)
But you know what? I started thinking that would be a huge underestimation of his songwriting skills and intuitive talent. This guy seems to know who he is and what his potential is. Combine that with his sense of knowing what will sell and you get a bunch of songs that become best-sellers because people can relate to them.
Here's a perfect example that caught my eye yesterday: Rolling Stone review
Some airhead is talking about sending her ex-boyfriend a copy of Toby's "How do you like me now?" song:

I love this song! It totally describes my relationship with my ex-boyfriend. We're friends, but not good friends, and I sent him a tape with this song on it right after we broke up. I had gotten a total makeover and started hanging out with all of the really popular people; which I didn't do before, hence the dumping. Now whenever I think about him, I just play this song. I love this song! :-) I can't get enough of it!
Toby Keith doesn't have "issues with women." Toby Keith knows what will sell because other people "have issues." :-)
I know, I know... Shutup Nita and just enjoy the music. LOL!
