Any Other FReepers Getting FLOODED with ICMP Echo Requests (Pings)?

I'm getting them ever few seconds, and from a variety of sources (it appears, at least according to my firewall log). Any techie info/advice would be appreciated.

Welcome to the club....I've been getting inundated with ping requests for a couple of months now..msn is my internet provider and I think somebody is trying to bug Microsoft...If I switch to a different provider I don't get near as many...Microsoft seems to not give a damn, from the reply I got from them....
.....Westy.....

...Will someone tell me what the following means? I know there is no danger according to Zone Alarm but the DNS is always : ns1.attbi.com
ZoneAlarm prevented your computer from accessing port 53 on a DNS server
ZoneAlarm prevented your computer from sending a message to a remote computer. No breach in your security has occurred.Your computer is safe.
What happened?
ZoneAlarm blocked an outbound communication to a Domain Name Server. The function of a Domain Name Server (DNS) is to convert a domain's IP address, such as 207.25.71.28, into a recognizable name, such as www.cnn.com.

Yep. And on occasion, my ISP tells me that somebody has a ghost device sharing my IP address somewhere before blocking it out and changing mine. I've had nearly 40,000 intrusions blocked since I upgraded zone alarm 3 weeks ago - 30,000 of those happened on three of those "ghost IP" days, which has occurred 3 times.

I know just enough to know that I need ZoneAlarm, the latest version of which I upgraded to about 3 weeks ago as well. I can tell you that the source DNS for most of these pings differ, and I can also tell you that a few nights ago, my local ISP had me change the dial-up number I was using from an old and not often used one to a newer one. After I switched to the new dial-up number is when all this seemed to begin.

I'm not a techie either. Best I can explain is that my ISP said that there is another device sharing the same address as my computer, and that this has happened a few times. Maybe people better at this can explain.

Are you using a router? It could be the ISP is having trouble with their DHCP server.

I really need to blow some dust off the checkbook and buy one. I keep saying I am, but I really mean it this time.
