MATT Lauer's ex-wife is standing by her ex-man. Nancy Alspaugh, who was married to the "Today" host from 1982 to '89, was overheard at a Hollywood event this weekend complaining about the front-page story in the National Enquirer: "Matt Lauer's Cocaine Dealer Tells All! His Secret Drug Past Exposed." Alspaugh ... wondered: "Who didn't do cocaine in the '80s? - certainly no one I knew." (PageSix)
I guess that means the story about Matt is true.
CBS tries to cover its collective rear - of the Reagan film, big shot Les Moonves says: "Well, No. 1, nobody's seen the film. So any criticism . . . or a film that isn't finished, is rather odd we think . . . We've looked at the rough cut, there are things we like . . . there are things we don't like . . . there are things we think go too far. So there are some edits being made trying to present a more fair picture of the Reagans."
Even Dem-loving columnist Liz Smith wonders, "Did CBS really have to make this tacky movie at this time?"
