Florida Democrat Gubernatorial candidate David Jolly went on the record last week openly “begging” national Democrats to pour money into his race against Republican Byron Donalds. However, Jolly made a habit of staying in Ritz Carlton hotels in at least six separate cities with donor funds during his campaign, according to campaign finance disclosures.
Jolly has stayed at Ritz Carlton locations during campaign travel in Miami, Washington, D.C., Naples, Fort Lauderdale, Boston, and New York City. Average room rates range from $500 to over $1,200 during peak times in most of the locations in which Jolly has stayed.
X user Mark Glaeser posted the disclosures at the end of September. He noted that the fancy hotel stays include a portion paid by Florida taxpayers under Florida’s campaign finance laws regarding matching funds.
The left-wing Florida Phoenix reported on a recent Jolly campaign event, where he said, “I need the national Democratic Party to come into Florida and start spending money.”
In September, Jolly reported $3.3 million in his campaign account, a far cry from Donalds’ war chest.
Donalds has raised $135 million across his campaign accounts through September 30 as polls have shown the race tighter than expected.
Jolly, a former Republican Congressman and lobbyist turned Democrat, has attempted to position himself as a moderate in the race. Breitbart News previously reported he wants to apologize to the world for Florida’s “culture wars” and sided with disgraced former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) head Anthony Fauci during the pandemic, fleeing Florida for Pennsylvania and insulting Gov. Ron DeSantis.
He has also supported allowing transgender males to play in girls’ sports, wants to “crush” the state’s famous gun culture, and hopes to end the state’s successful school choice programs.

Even if Republicans take a beating in the midterms, I think Florida will be okay, we have a major property tax amendment on the ballot that will bring out the voters and the woman running for the US Senate against Ashley Nelson is a certified lunatic.
I remember the name. If my memory serves me correctly, he was a fake republican from the Tampa area and lasted 1 term in congress.

Correct. He was leaching off the Tea Party movement, and portrayed himself a conservative. But now we see his true colors not unlike Charlie Crist. Jolly will go down the same political drain.

Bit of a financial mismatch. Seems to me Donalds should be staying in the Ritz Carlton Presidential suite while Jolly should be asking the desk guy at the Motel Six for extra soap.
One of my neighbors just south of Orlando is a good sort as a person but is an avid Democrat who puts yard signs out for the craziest Leftist Democrats on the ballot. This year, he has had an Angie Nixon sign on his lawn for weeks. Mercifully, conservative Republican incumbent US Senator Ashley Moody will win that race handily.

The national media and celebrities went absolutely star-struck crazy over Gillum and Abrams and how wonderful and historic their elections would be - on and on and on. “Girl let me pull over my car” as Abrams got a call from Oprah.
Crickets on Daniel Cameron. Crickets on Winsome Sears. And now crickets on Byron Donalds.
Because the potential to “make history” had nothing to do with that behavior - it was because they were Leftists and would have governed as Leftists. The “history” that could have been made had nothing to do with it - it was only a ruse. They would not have celebrated the elections of Sears or Cameron as historic had they occurred, and they will not celebrate the election of Donalds. Race should not matter, anyway - and it only matters to them when it can be exploited for narratives - which is actually racism.
You’re right of course. Donalds is excellent. He’s smart and knows his stuff, and he’s a loyal Trump supporter. If Sears had stayed loyal to Trump, she’d be governor, in my opinion.
