An account bearing Troy Jackson’s name got kicked out of a Facebook group devoted to supporting him after members decided its replies were so insulting they couldn’t possibly have come from their candidate.
Screenshots from “Mainers for Troy Jackson” show members arguing over whether they were dealing with the real Jackson, an impostor or someone else using his account. One member posted images identifying the profile as Jackson’s personal page, complete with a Facebook designation that made for an awkward endorsement: “Former member of Mainers for Troy Jackson.”
According to a Maine Wire investigation, the account profile picture matches the personal profile account Jackson has used for several years.
The dispute comes amid complaints about Washington’s growing influence over the Democratic Senate nominee. In a Sept. 22 New York Magazine report, Rebecca Traister described progressive organizers frustrated as Jackson deferred to national consultants. She reported that local organizers had been sidelined and town halls reworked or canceled. Jackson’s campaign denied screening questions at events and said his positions on ICE, Gaza and Medicare for All had not changed.
Inside the Facebook group, supporters were having trouble recognizing the man whose name was on the door.
“This cannot be Troy speaking. He would not speak so insultingly and patronizingly to regular people let alone supporters,” wrote Carla Poindexter White. “Whoever this is, it is horrifying.”
Another member, Kirstan Watson, asked whether the account could be removed or reported.
“They have been removed. Will keep an eye on it. Freaky,” White replied.
Rachel Southworth then pointed out the apparent problem.
“i think you just banned Troy, his personal page,” she wrote, tagging White and posting screenshots of the profile.
White defended the decision while drawing a distinction between removal and a ban.
“Didn’t ban, removed while things settle and we keep an eye on things,” she wrote. “You’d be amazed what trolls and imposters can do and too many people have raised the question of if that was really him as his replies were not sounding like him.”
One visible comment from Jackson’s account shows him apparently trying to rebut the allegation that he’s cancelled town hall events at the behest of his DC handlers: “So sad. We have one in Belfast this weekend.”
“Not a town hall – see my comment above,” Trudy Miller replied.
The uncertainty over who was speaking for Jackson prompted another member, David Bright, to suggest that national party staff might have access to the account.
“Likely some of the DNC staffers have admin rights on his page,” Bright wrote.
Nothing in the screenshots substantiates Bright’s speculation.
Other supporters were less concerned with the account’s identity than with their inability to get answers from the campaign. One commenter, JR Robinson, explicitly connected that frustration to Traister’s reporting.
“I appreciate everything you’re doing to keep the home fires burning but I find I’m getting impatient with how difficult it is to get responses out of the campaign,” Robinson wrote. “It just reinforces elements that Traister reported.”
“But seriously,” the comment continued, “I hope Jackson appreciates everything you’re doing.”

Wife and I were at a Maine county fair last month. The communists had a booth set up and had Troy Jackson in attendance. They had a woman going around working the crowd to come by the both, get some information and shake Troy Jackson’s hand.
My wife and I just looked at each other for a sec, and I responded: “I don’t think that’s gonna happen,” She asked, “Why? He’s a good man.” I said, “There isn’t enough hand sanitizer in the entire state of Maine that would clean my hand”. She walked off and so did we.
Troy Jackson? New nazi same as the old nazi...just no tattoo to brag about it.
Collins may not adhere to a lot of conservative values, and votes wrong on a lot of stuff, but she’s light years ahead of anything Troy Jackson would ever bring to the Senate.....
