Chinese President Xi Jinping announced at the White House on Thursday he was gifting the U.S. with two giant pandas and invitations for 100,000 U.S. students to study in China.
“The giant panda has been an envoy of friendship between the Chinese and the Americans,” Xi said, speaking alongside President Trump and other officials from the U.S. and China.
“Here, I have a piece of good news. In a few days, two pandas — Ping Ping and Fu Shuang — will come to their new home in Zoo Atlanta and meet with the American people,” the Chinese leader added.
The Atlanta venue has not had pandas among its animals since 2024, when a previous deal with Beijing expired. The panda diplomacy program originally began in 1957 and has been extended periodically to allow the bears to remain in the U.S., according to Congress.
A spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry shared pictures of Ping Ping and Fu Shuang to social media.
Xi also announced Thursday that 100,000 young American students would be invited to study in China over the next five years.
“Achieving the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and making America great again can go hand-in-hand,” he said in a nod to Trump’s “Make America Great Again” campaign slogan.
He added separately, “The hope of China-U.S. relationship lies in our people, and its future lies with the young.”

The problem is there is no technological knowledge to steal from China. So I am calling a straw man on this.

Study what? Be martial artists and\or Daoist philosophy?
Tbeir manufacture tech is actually better than ours in some serious places especially in automation.

True to some extent, but never underestimate your enemy. We should learned that with the Japanese Empire and a failed Germany that went from ashes to suddenly successfully launching missiles capable of space flight, if they had wanted them to.
Having been to China and knowing many Chinese, it is clear they are expert at efficiency in manufacturing and operations. They can easily take another nations most advanced products and improve upon them, making them affordable and more widely available. This is the same thing the U.S. did to British industry.
So, do not under estimate any nation and do not forget our history. That is the only we win this.
Well then we should focus on stealing that! lol

What China will expect in return is 100,000 student visa for Chinese students to study in US. That’s a lot of potential spies.
Xi can release all the prisoners he currently has in China for spreading the word of Christ, how about that instead of giant pandas
