One billion humanoid robots?
Might be time to rethink the prohibition on armor piercing handgun ammo!
What he won’t mention is how this is going to make life better for the poor, pitiful humans.
UBI? So we can all live in poorhouses while the robot owners live in luxury on the hilltops and sneer at the serfs?
There are good things about AI. But what about the human impact? When the automobile came on the scene, people stopped making horse-drawn wagons and started making cars.
Will we see the same successful job migration with AI? I doubt it. More likely we’ll see the truth of this old saying:
“Idle hands are the devil’s playthings.”
Who is thrown in jail when their AI or robot hurts or kills someone?
Can someone program a robot to kill all the people they don’t like, then have it self delete and self destruct, and there’s no murder charge?

I posted about this a couple of days ago, I’ve been experimenting with AI models from Anthropic, started out with the free version and have since upgraded to the Pro level which is a paid for subscription, $17/month if you pay for the full year in advance, otherwise $20/month.
In my work career, I spent nearly 40 years in IT Tech support, the last 20 programming Cisco Systems router, switches, and voice systems.
I’ve been absolutely blown away with what you can do with minimal technical skills. The biggest skill you need is the ability to understand and clearly communicate with the AI model exactly what you want and how the system should work. The AI model will do the rest and ask you questions along the way and point out different and potentially better ways to accomplish the goal.
For those people with any sort of creativity, you will see an explosion of small independent companies

Agreed. The question is how many people such companies will employ. I don’t think they will be very labor-intensive.
There’s a call center near where I live. There used to be quite a few cars in the parking lot. Now there’s only a few. Just a guess: The owner figured out how to use AI to make many of those calls.
I say that because I occasionally get calls now that seem like I’m talking to a real person, but it turns out that I’m not.
Disclaimer: I’m not arguing against AI. Just pointing out the employment problem it’s gonna produce.
I consider myself an above average user of Microsoft Excel, in the past using excel for anything the least bit complicated usually required a great amount of time cleaning and standardizing the data.
If I were back in the business world, just cleaning and standardizing the data using Claude AI would have saved me untold number of hours.
I’m only scratching the surface on what the product can do, just creating agents to automate routine tasks is another huge time saver for the average person.
What I have found is once you start to realize what these products can do, your imagination starts to kick in, and you come up other areas where Claude AI can help you.

Agree, leap years in technical and time savings. So not just adding 10 or 20% more efficiency, perhaps 2x or 3x or more.
