'Constitutional carry': Latest FBI data has anti-gun groups scratching their heads

The FBI's new crime report is out, and it's safe to say that those who listened to the predictions of anti-Second Amendment groups are wondering where the crime is.

Since the Supreme Court struck down New York's discretionary system for issuing concealed carry permits in June 2022, groups like Everytown, Giffords and Brady United predicted public safety would be diminished by the decision. However, the FBI's data noted that in 2025, the murder rate went down 18.1%, while violent crime fell by over 9%.

One survey of crime that is widely cited is the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) carried out by the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS), which showed from 2021 to 2023, the NCVS reported a 36% increase in the violent crime victimization rate, according to the report.

In a July 22 poll commissioned by the Crime Prevention Research Center, the number of people who reported carrying a concealed firearm went up from 24.3% in December 2024 to 30.9%. In other words, more people are carrying concealed.

Thank you very much and God bless you.

Good lesson for all law abiding people, especially moms with kids they love: learn to carry and start.

An armed society is a polite society.

Every time an anti-gun law is removed, Everytown, Giffords and Brady United, come out and do their blood dance screaming that “BLOOD WILL NOW FLOW IN THE STREETS!”

It never happens.

WOW! So it seems criminals respond to incentives - such as getting their worthless azzes shot by their intended victims.

Who would have guessed?

It is a complicated system.

Some of the drop is probably because of the deportation of criminals and the fear of deportation leading to lower levels of crime.

Yes, I have no doubt that’s part of it. A LOT of crime is committed by relatively few chitbirds. The more of those you flush down the toilet either by executing, imprisoning or deporting, that is going to have a disproportionally large impact on reducing crime.

Of course, a greater likelihood of their intended victims being armed is another significant deterrent. There’s no fancy lawyer or Soros DA who is going to get you off when your intended victim just pulls out his/her gun and blows you away.

Constitutional carry has created a horrible virtual mine field for wannabe criminals. With about 30% of citizens legally packing, the poor children just don’t know who’s going to shoot back.

Per ai:

Constitutional Carry in the United States

Constitutional carry — also called permitless carry — is a legal framework in which
a person who can lawfully possess a handgun may carry it concealed or openly
without obtaining a state-issued permit.

The term reflects a constitutionalist interpretation of the Second Amendment,
which guarantees the right to “keep and bear arms”

I've always been leery of an 'permit' to carry and will never apply.

The 2nd says we can own and bear arms, same as the 1st says we have the right to assemble. Each of those rights are as good as the other.

The 2nd says we can own and bear arms, same as the 1st says we have the right to assemble.

The right doesn't come from the Constitution. The Constitution affirms they're inalienable rights. The 2nd Amendment says the government cannot infringe on our inalienable right to keep and bear arms, and the 1st Amendment says the government cannot infringe on our right to assemble.

Correct. The Bill of Rights does not grant anything.

They tell the government to not interfere with “natural” rights - association, self-defense, privacy, etc.

A lot of people I find get this completely backwards. Civics isn’t taught anymore (grump).

If one reads The Consitution and in particular the Bill of Rights a great deal of it is about limiting the power of the federal government.

Part of it might be the mass deportation of a certain group.

But we are not suppose to notice that.

Also keep in mind that BeijingBiden changed the reporting rules so that blue areas could reclassify crimes and then not report. Trust no numbers from blue cities.

It is like a Dr saying that you do not have cancer, it is just uncontrolled cell growth. Or, “ignore that”, you will be dead before I have to do anything for you.
