Gotta love those prediction markets. The 2028 presidential race is still years away, but the betting action is already starting to tell its own story.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has moved slightly ahead of California Gov. Gavin Newsom in one major prediction market, giving the New York congresswoman an 11% implied chance of winning the presidency compared with Newsom at 10%. Their lines crossed in recent days, putting AOC ahead of one of the Democratic Party’s most visible potential contenders.
The movement has already fueled plenty of conversation about where Democratic voters could be headed after another bruising election cycle. For supporters of Ocasio-Cortez, the shift is being read as another sign that democratic socialist politics continue to carry energy with younger and more progressive voters. Newsom’s position has sparked a different conversation around his national appeal and whether years of high-profile clashes with Republicans will ultimately help or hurt him outside California.
There are still obvious hurdles surrounding any possible AOC campaign. She would enter a presidential race as one of its younger candidates, and Democrats would also be confronting recent electoral history after struggling to elect female nominees to the White House.
For now, Republicans hold the stronger hand across the broader prediction market. Vice President JD Vance currently leads the field at 21%.

AOC has political baggage but Gavin Newsom has political cargo. The only chance either of these clowns have to advance in politics is for the democrat and deep state machine to keep cheating them into office.
