“Judge them not by the color of their skin, but the contents of their crack pipes.”
The Atlantic, the last liberal magazine, which still occasionally runs good articles questioning leftist insanity, has an article that touches on the consequences of leftist pro-crime policies and features insane moments like this one.
Nelson also asked pointed questions about what had become the received wisdom in Seattle, such as why the county government paid millions of dollars to supply kits to addicts with tinfoil, pipes, and instructions on how to smoke fentanyl. (Incongruously, these kits came emblazoned with an image of Martin Luther King Jr., the namesake of King County.) What harm was reduced, Nelson asked at a 2023 council hearing, by helping addicts get high? Amber Tejada, an employee of a health nonprofit that had partnered with the city, raised her hand to answer. “I know it can be a little controversial,” she told the councilwoman, “but one of the key tenets of harm reduction that I see is that we want to be able to facilitate and champion autonomy of people who use drugs.” Tejada added, “There are folks for whom abstinence is not something by which they measure their success in life.”
Nothing says progress like crack pipes with King’s picture on them. Somehow I don’t think he would have been thrilled.

LOL. This article made my day. The government handing out crack pipes with MLK’s picture on them is the absolutely perfect example of the decayed, corrupt, absurd end-stage of self-perpetuating NGOs, which long ago lost whatever mission they allegedly were supposed to be pursuing, feeding off of our dying Welfare State.
The left has worshipped Satan for so long he's taken over their lives.
".....we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Eph 6:12
Lord, please help us to defeat and bind our enemy, the devil. Through Christ, amen.
A loud amen.
That’s the truth.
Kickback cash must be big in that deal.
“Nelson” is quoted throughout the article but never fully identified. Nelson who?
Wow.
Seattle must enjoy burying people:
“In Seattle, there were 914 confirmed drug overdose deaths in 2025.
The synthetic opioid is the primary driver, with 217 confirmed fentanyl-related deaths reported in a recent year (up from 172 the prior year) and over 1,050 fentanyl deaths recorded in 2023.”
That’s one way to get the homeless off the streets.
Nelson is from “The Atlantic” article referenced by Daniel Greenfield.

Sara Nelson is a Seattle City Councilperson.
“Sara Nelson, a Democrat who had advertised her willingness to challenge the harm-reduction consensus, won a seat on the city council the same year and became its president two years later.”
No surprises there.
I had a similar response to this.
Yeah, that's some hip-wader level BS right there. Straight from the Kamala Harris Culinary School of Words and Ideas. I don't think she even knows what she said.
Yep tax free businesses are hard to stop.
Originally named after US representative, senator, and then vice president-elect William R. King in 1852, the county government amended its designation in 1986 to honor Martin Luther King Jr., a prominent activist and leader during the civil rights movement. The change was approved by the state government in 2005. - WikpediaI'm sure that the descendants of William R. King were tickled pink by the change.
Regards,
Outgoing Seattle City Council President Sara Nelson, a frequent critic of certain harm-reduction practices, forcefully …The Internet is an amazing thing!
Regards,
Why not hand out condoms with Dr. MLK’s image on them to control out of wedlock births and STDs? (better keep my big mouth shut or they’ll get more dumbass ideas)
Love it! Great story—this is what makes reading the news worthwhile. Keep it up, Seattle!
that is hilarious.
