The former White House coordinator of the COVID Task Force says the contentious Senate hearing that put Dr. Anthony Fauci and his diary under scrutiny shows there is still "persistent anger" over the government's handling of the pandemic.
In an interview on CBS News' "The Takeout," Dr. Deborah Birx said she thought Democratic Sen. John Fetterman, who was Pennsylvania's lieutenant governor during the pandemic, "got it the most right for all of us." He wondered, she said, "Did I get the balance right between saving lives and preserving people's livelihoods?"
"That is a very deep question, and I think what you heard today is still persistent anger over that question not being answered adequately for most Americans," Birx told CBS News chief Washington correspondent Major Garrett.
"We've got to get to that answer, and we have to have a better way forward than this," Birx said.
And Fauci, she said, is probably at the center of questions about this because he served during both the Trump and Biden administrations, and people on the left and right still harbor deep disagreements about how each side addressed COVID.
Six years after the pandemic, one of the enduring questions is whether the coronavirus originated in an animal in a wet market in Wuhan, China, or emerged from a lab there. Senators asked Fauci repeatedly about this Wednesday, but he invoked the Fifth Amendment in response to all questions during the hearing.
Republican Sen. Rand Paul, who heads the Senate Homeland Security Committee, subpoenaed Fauci to appear before the committee as part of the panel's investigation into the origins of the coronavirus.

Appropriately placed anger, and it’s due for reconciliation.
These are the same leaders that keep misplacing senators and congressmen, so I wouldn’t have high hopes. This will just continue to destroy our confidence and trust in our government institutions.
I’ve had a lot of people say, well, we just didn’t *know*. Basically asking for forgiveness.
But now, those same people are mad that we want straight answers from Fauci. Thankfully, RFK, Jr found the diary entries, so we now know what the real truth is.
At least she has the question open.

All the media is burying the lead on this story. Here is how Rand Paul ended today’s hearing:
“Today will be the capstone to Anthony Fouch’s 40 years of abuse of power at NIH. In the end, we must imagine Fouci believes he got away with it. But still late at night, even the guilty must become anxious, rerunning the scenarios through his mind, wondering, latching on to lingering doubts and worrying. Did his actions lead to the largest man-made plague in human history? Are the millions dead the result of his experiments or experiments that he approved that increased the pathogenicity of deadly viruses? History will judge, but the facts as we now know them paint a sorted tale of dishonesty, misjudgment, and ultimately the hubris the likes of which the world has rarely seen. If everyone will remain seated for a few minutes, we’re going to let Dr. Fouchy exit. Thank you.”
That’s the story: how many of the deaths are the responsibility of Fauci and the NIH? And who else is to blame?
What about today, what are the experiments happening today and with who? Ukraine? China? Israel?
Is this the only release that has lead to significant deaths or have their been more?
Questions you just can’t find in the media. Fauci’s written statement is on every website.
Fauci and Birx misled the American people and imposed dangerous , divisive and politically motivated policies that resulted in the deaths of countless Americans and ruins the lives of many more
By her own admission, Birx was fully aware of the fact that the vaccines were intended only for high risk individuals and not for the healthy general population, much less young adults , children and even babies
She was also full aware of the dangerous side effects of the vaccines, the 49000 vaccine related deaths, the effects of ivermectine and the extreme toxcity of remdesivere and the general wrongness of the entire portfolio of covid pandemic policies
Notice she thinks it is the government that needs to find the right balance and not an informed public making individual decisions.
Persistent anger? How about the observation that the Covid regime were treasonous lying self-aggrandizing murderous thieves who have never been called to the bar of justice.

The reports aren’t considering another fact that has only been mentioned as an aside. Fauci’s advice was being followed in other countries. He became an international “rock star” he brags in his own diaries. What will these countries say about our government funding gain of function research that weaponized a dangerous virus at the behest of the Chinese Communists and an arrogant, amoral, egomaniac American. It killed millions all over the world.
