President Donald Trump’s most ardent supporters are outraged after Dr. Anthony Fauci invoked the Fifth Amendment before a Senate hearing on Wednesday.
Fauci declined to answer questions from senators in a GOP-led committee hearing about his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. Fauci first led the pandemic response during Trump’s administration and later under former President Joe Biden.
He has been the target of MAGA’s ire for months, with Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) leading the charge against him. Paul was prepared to grill Fauci over his response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including asking questions about the origin of the virus and the vaccines.
In his opening statement, Fauci said Paul has an “obvious obsession with calling for my prosecution.”
“The only conclusion I can reach is that the sole reason he is calling me before this Committee is to prompt me to say something, anything, that could vindicate his repeated public pledges that I end up, in his words, ‘behind bars,’” Fauci said.
Trump’s Republican base criticized Fauci’s decision to not answer senators’ questions. During the hearing, Paul said there would be “repercussions” for Fauci refusing to answer the questions.
“Pleading the Fifth may be a constitutional right. It’s not an answer to the American people who deserve the truth about COVID,” Paul wrote in a post to his social media account.
Without presenting evidence, conservative influencer Benny Johnson accused Fauci of committing crimes.
“He knows he committed crimes. He is TERRIFIED of being held accountable. Unbelievable,” Johnson wrote on X.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) suggested that Fauci loved the fame he received from leading the pandemic response.

Let’s watch the Rats and Rat media defend him
“Trump’s MAGA”
Nope. No bias there.
I mean, seriously. Are we to believe that nobody else is unhappy about the unnecessary lockdowns and oppressive mandates?
The good news is it’s on CNN now.
Ha ha ha ha ha
This is what you get from Lauren Sforza, a free-lance hack writing for NJ.com.
"Forget it Jake, it's New Jersey."
The Deep State’s Dr.Mengele invokes the 5th.
When you’ve already received a nice, big presidential pardon, what do you have to plead the 5th for?
This was always the inevitable outcome. Not sure why anyone is surprised.
It's not a Constitutional right if he's been pardoned.
This was to be his big day, and he lets it slip? Rand Paul is either being willfully ignorant or a total weasel.
So, NOW what happens??
And, why “erupt”? I guess some folks ‘felt’ there would be some accountability. He may as well just have brought a red card with “5TH AMENDMENT” scrawled on it to flash each time.
Hey tonee-——🖕
1. Because Fauci's the auto-pen auto-pardon may be proven to be fraudulent.
2. Fauci's crimes are also outside the jurisdiction of the auto-pardon. Anthony "The Science" Fauci can be hauled into courtrooms all over the world, where his auto-pardon is irrelevant.
Not sure what people expected. Any serious lawyer would have advised of the same.
Could be the only thing we may get out of it is independents voting for us in November. The democrats don’t have a leg to stand on but it doesn’t matter to most of them. Like I said on another post our nation of sheep acted like a damsel in distress and Fauchi was the prince who saved us. A dystopian novel.
“When you’ve already received a nice, big presidential pardon, what do you have to plead the 5th for?”
State charges?
Depraved indifference for Wuhan lab funding?
Did Biden’s autopen exonerate him?
If so there is no reason to plead the 5tn
Looks like Fauci doesn’t trust the auto pen pardon
There’s more. Think of him as a young Shirley Temple taking the nation’s mind off the great depression. Congress directing the playing the national anthem before all sporting events-dystopian.
Everyone said “He can’t”
That’s when I knew he would.
