NYC economy has been doing terribly since then.

That is the fear; and it does happen.
However, it seems at least in Florida, we are getting the best of the worst in terms of refuges fleeing dangerous states up north.
Since about 2018 the Gunshine State has flipped voter registration and the R’s now exceed the opposition by over a million voters. Huge turn around.
Still, there is a lot not to like about the new arrivals.

That’s probably true, but most employees at their American headquarters are not Korean. I used to do business with Samsung and visited their headquarters in NJ many times. Now at the Seoul headquarters yes, many Koreans there. Been there too.
That's about one per year and it has an enormous impact on the economic stability of any state.
Fortune 500 companies are by definition, the largest, most successful companies in the country and provide both jobs and a large tax base to which ever state they reside in.
Will these high tax states ever learn?
That is a rhetorical, self answering question.
While New Jersey has a lot to be criticized about, I’m not sure the clickbait “humiliated” headline is justified. OK, Samsung chose Texas. And dozens of other companies still are moving from New York to New Jersey. There is a corporate boom still going on in Northern and central Jersey because New York City is an even bigger basket case than New Jersey, which looks tame in comparison. New Jersey has its issues but its Democrats aren’t stupid enough to go full-Communist to the point where New York businesses by=pass them and go to Pennsylvania or some other state.

Amazing Trump won Texas in 2020 by around 5 and a half points then millions of folks moved there between 2020 and 2024 and he won by almost 14 points. I guess everyone who moves to Texas must not be a liberal. At some point this tired narrative need not be absolute. Many, many conservatives live in blue states (and luckily the democrats in those states are now pushing them out and they hare happily leaving to “Redder” pastures).
Deep State thinks it will get Congress to write dying states a blank check.
