Is Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman preparing for a political divorce from the Democratic Party - or is he simply becoming Washington’s most unpredictable Democrat?
The speculation exploded after Fetterman and Republican Senator Dave McCormick joined forces on a rare bipartisan fundraising operation that has stunned political insiders.
The unusual partnership allows the two Pennsylvania senators — one Democrat and one Republican — to work together on fundraising efforts and promote areas where they have found common ground, including bipartisan initiatives focused on Pennsylvania issues.
Their cooperation has included public appearances supporting youth mentorship efforts, discussions about economic issues affecting the state, and efforts to highlight Pennsylvania’s interests on the national stage.
However, the committee’s formation does not mean Fetterman and McCormick have merged their political platforms or agreed to support the same candidates and policies across the board.
Instead, it represents an unusual attempt by two senators from opposing parties to capitalize on their bipartisan relationship and appeal to voters who favor cooperation over party conflict.
The new committee, Common Ground PA, filed with the Federal Election Commission and brings together political groups connected to both senators, including Fetterman’s campaign operation and McCormick’s fundraising network.
The move immediately raised eyebrows on X.

Amazing how good Fetterman turned out. Honestly probably better than doc Oz.
We need MORE demorats like him. We need democrats to move away from the far left. So hopefully he wins bigtime in PA as a democrat. Then other dems may follow his lead.
Captain Israel wants to be a Republican we shall see who knows maybe our Governor here in Pennsylvania Josh Shapiro will switch teams after the election this fall.
DR OZ HAS BEEN OUTSTANDING IN HIS CURRENT POSITION, IMO.
Doc Oz would have turned out to be another RINO like Tillis or Thune.
He only supported biondi as a cabinet pick he’s for men in women’s sports
Fetterman is smart enough to realize that PA is not New England, New York, or the West Coast.
Moonbattery and Stage 4 TDS doesn’t fly outside college towns, Philly and the Pittsburgh city limits.
He will never be a conservative or caucus with the R’s but he could never win a statewide race being perceived as a member of “the squad”.
At best, he will go indy with tepid GOP support. He is a common sense Democrat to the core back in the day that some Democrats like JFK, Henry Jackson or Joe Liberman had a little common sense.
That stroke was a stroke of luck.
Look people. He’s up in ‘28. If he switches it will be after November. America will have spoken. As a Republican no one will challenge him. If he’s an independent we’ll put up a sacrificial lamb who will drop out if it means a democrat has the upper hand. If he’s an independent who will caucus with the democrats we’ll go full speed.
Can Pennsylvania go the way of Florida red? We’re working on it.
“We need more democrats like him”. Key phrase
Stay there, John, and bring them common sense. Reform from the inside!
He will either have to switch to the GOP or get primaried out in ‘28. I think he will serve one term and be done.
He has plenty of courage to do what he’s doing. I can’t imagine how much Democrat nastiness he has to deal with daily. Those people want the Democrat machine, not a thinking man with a strong independent streak.
I also don’t think he is 100% recovered from the stroke he had in ‘21.
Right for a democrat he’s reasonable, but he’s not MAGA.
Why recruit him to the GOP, just so we can be more lefty? Leave him in the Democrat party and let him pull them to the center.
Exactly. What’s better a RINO or a democrat willing to break with their party on big issues that truly help our nation?
True, he’s probably better in his current role than as a senator where he’d be pressured by about 60 to 80 other senators to be lefty and anti-maga.
Cats & dogs getting along? We can’t have that…ever. /s
Fetterman is often portrayed in this forum as a superhero so I had to come up with a name..
He is not going to switch parties. What he is up to is ensuring he gets reelected by appealing to cross over Republican voters.
