CNN’s Audie Cornish: Ending Birthright Citizenship Would ‘Piss Off’ New Parents
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 06/29/2026 1:12:15 PM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

On Monday's episode of CNN This Morning, host Audie Cornish left no doubt where her sympathies lie in the debate over birthright citizenship: squarely with those opposing any limits on the policy.

After airing a clip of Speaker Mike Johnson explaining that the policy has been abused—with people crossing the border illegally simply to have a baby on U.S. soil—Cornish turned to her panel and injected her own perspective as a mother.

“Does anyone on this panel have kids other than me?” Cornish asked. When Michael Scherer of The Atlantic answered "yes," Cornish continued:

“Okay, do you remember being in the hospital, and do you remember thinking to yourself, I really want to fill out citizenship documents right now? Like, why would you piss off a whole bunch of parents before the election?”

You know who ending birthright citizenship would really piss off? Illegal immigrants doing birth tourism, and above all, Democrats seeing a source of new voters being cut off.

Ping to Liberal Media Criticism list.

“Like, why would you piss off a whole bunch of parents before the election?””

.

“before the election”

Apparently the fact that illegal aliens are NOT supposed to be voting has, oh, slipped their little wetback and prog’s massive 200-300 brain cell “logic.”

Just last week my daughter gave birth. I was with them in the hospital where they were filling out the birth certificate forms. There were a few questions that would be used to determine citizenship. Of course she and her husband are citizens so it isn’t an issue.

My daughter, sleep deprived and sore, was not enthusiastic about filling out the form. “Why do they need to know all this stuff?!” I pointed out that it would get the child citizenship and a social security number. My wife and I laughed. I told her they were not like SAT questions…that girls half her age from Mexico fill them out every day in Wisconsin.

Ending Birthright Citizenship Would ‘Piss Off’ New Parent.

Well, TFB.

There is nothing today that is sacred about “birthright citizenship” for a child born on soil foreign to the parents. The misinterpretation of the very first sentence of Section 1, of the 14th Amendment, referring to being “subject to the jurisdiction (of the United States)”, is the stumbling block here. Foreigners are subject to a very limited and highly restricted protection while within the United States, which in no way confers any rights of “citzenship” on these TEMPORARY residents of the United States.

I remember filling the forms out with my 3 kids, and happily did so! The birth process is so much different these days than it was 30-40 years ago. I hope they’re saving lots of babies with what they put women though now. (Our daughter gave birth to our first granddaughter last November, so it’s still pretty fresh in my mind.)

I just bet that she is college educated.

You don't get that stupid with out a bunch of Leftist College Professor's help.

Cornish you ignorant B!tch. If you are a citizen you won't be filling out citizenship documents.

If you aren't a citizen why would anyone worry about offending you before an election.

Please send your diploma back to the factory for a refund.

I think it would a “from this day forward” thing, not retroactive. Would take some of the sting of Barrett allowing unlimited mail ballots.

“Okay, do you remember being in the hospital, and do you remember thinking to yourself, I really want to fill out citizenship documents right now?

~~~
Wait... this is hospitals we are talking about, right?
I have been fortunate to have good health and good luck most of my life, and avoided hospitals a lot, but just about any time I set foot into one of those places, I was inundated with forms to fill out!
Libtards gonna go full libtard, just to try to make a point.
She thinks Trump caved on Iran because of the mid-terms (which is probably actually correct) so she’s gonna play the election card. Paying more at the gas pumps is somehow the equivalent of getting forms at the hospital. The first one affects people’s lives. The second one is a normal and momentary annoyance.
My son was born in the UK of American Parents. I did obtain UK Citizenship for my son that was quite legal then. They have since changed the law. I wanted him to be able to work in the UK and Europe as an adult if he wanted such.
Oddly he was born under the National Health System and I paid nothing for the care of my wife and child. I never paid anything for medical for any of us. This was 1978 and the NHS was pretty good. Today it is shambles.
I do not feel guilty for taking this free health care. I was working in the North Sea and making a salary much higher than most Englishmen least they were doing the same job as I. Our taxes were obscene. I paid for every bit of good service I had from National Health. They were good then. Today the National Health is overwhelmed by illegals and oddly non illegals from outside of the UK that do not pay into the system but drain it like a parasitic blood worm also called leaches. They are not an asset to Britain.
Now for the distinction that would get me prosecuted for hate speech in the UK. From the Indian sub continent are the Muslims and Hindus. It was once British territory. The Hindus integrate into British Society and become an asset. The Muslims do not!
They do not because of their religious teachings. It is that damn simple.
She sounds like the genius in the Chime commercial.
I show up for work everyday, why should I have to wait to get paid?
