Royal support plummets as polls show monarchy hits three-decade low

Backing for the British monarchy has plummeted to its lowest point in over three decades of Ipsos research, with just 55 per cent of the public now wanting the country to remain a monarchy.

The dramatic 11 percentage point decline over the past three years represents a significant decline in support for the Crown.

The survey of 1,062 British adults was carried out in March 2026, in the weeks following Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

Younger generations have proven particularly disenchanted, with merely a third of those aged 18 to 34 expressing support for maintaining the monarchy.

The trajectory of public sentiment towards the Royal Family has seen considerable fluctuation over the decades.

In 1993, following Elizabeth II's "annus horribilis" marked by the Windsor Castle fire and the collapse of three royal marriages, approval stood at 69 per cent.

Support subsequently climbed to reach its pinnacle of 80 per cent during the late Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations in 2012.

From that high watermark, backing for the institution gradually diminished, settling at 60 per cent in the year preceding Her Majesty's death in 2022.

Misplaced anger over the flood of larcenous cultures, the rape gangs, the knife attacks, the turning of police against people protesting, the totally cockeyed social programs pushed in by the labor parliament.

Unfortunately, if Parliament hadn’t stripped The Crown of day-to-day management of public order, The Crown would have been able to step in and stop this nonsense.

One reason for the declining support over the last three decades could be the massive increase in immigration.

Meanwhile, for the House of Windsor...

The valiant never taste of death but once.”

Well..they have no control over anything and just suck tax payers dry for pomp and circumstance and serve no useful purpose.

If King Charles acted like a King the UK would far better off than it is under Keir Stammer.

I support ending the English theocracy. The King should step down as head of the Church of England.

King Charles to reveal personal tax bill for first time as monarch

The reason I find this interesting is the timing. And I'm wondering if the Harkles have anything to do with both the decision and the timing.

I've never thought the Harry's desire to keep his visa paperwork secret was about his drug use.

If he's here on the type of visa I think he's got, then the Harkles can use that to dodge paying US income taxes. Might also get Harry immunity for any violation if the FARA.

But that visa has to be renewed annually. And the monarch has to sign off on it. KCIII cannot plead ignorance.

And note that same people baying for the monarchy to pay its fair share aren't demanding the same from the Harkles.

And if it should ever come out that the Palace and/or Charles were involved in what Martin Bashir and the BBC did to Diana...

God help KCIII.

In good King Charles' golden days when loyalty no harm meant
A pious man of God was I and so I gained preferment.
There is no god but God quoth I, Muhammad is His prophet.
The infidel sign upon the flag shall soon be taken off it.

And this be law, I will maintain ...

Chuckie the not so secret muslim plus the rest acting as spoiled rotten rich kids all too typical of “royalty”. Morals of house cats for many of them. Not forcefully proclaiming traditional English best values.

No wonder people are tired of them.

A constitutional republic with R2BA and free speech across the board. They have to get rid of th muzzies and it will be up to the citizens to revolt to get this done. Like the U.S., Islam has invaded our political system. We here in the U.S. will have to deal with this and the black problem before its too late.

Now that Elizabeth is no longer with us and her bleep-stick muslim son is in charge, hindsight becomes much clearer.

The British people could fix that ongoing mistake now though... not to open a discussion about exactly how; obviously one would not wish for things to turn violent...

King Charles has no real power… except the bully pulpit.

I agree with you. Charles should issue a carefully worded, yet crystal clear statement of disgust. And if he doesn’t, what good is a king?

It’s not like a dozen English girls were raped by Muslim filth. It was in the hundreds of thousands. Let that number sink in.

Parliament could respond by eliminating the monarchy. They have that power.
Okay, fine. This is a hill to die on.

———

Oh, and one more thing. The King is the commander-in-chief of the armed forces. He could respond to the monarchy being eliminated by declaring a coup to save the country. A bold King might do that.

But that ain’t Charlie.
