They’re not doing this accidentally.
Last year, former Boston Councilwoman Tania Fernandes Anderson, a former illegal alien and future convicted criminal, managed to get the Boston City Council to turn July from the month of America’s independence to a celebration of her native Cabo Verde Independence Month.
Now in Canada, MP Ahmed Hussen, a Somali immigrant from Mogadishu and the first Somali MP, has co-sponsored a bill to shift July over from Canada Day to ‘Somali Heritage Month’.
The bill claims that “Canada’s strength is reflected in the diversity of its population”, that “Canada is home to many Canadians of Somali heritage” and that Parliament wishes to recognize that “Canadians of Somali descent have made and continue to make significant contributions to Canada, and wishes to better inform Canadians about those contributions by recognizing and celebrating them.”
No such contributions are listed in the bill, but if it passes then “Throughout Canada, in each year, the month of July is to be known as ‘Somali Heritage Month’”.
According to the bill, “Canadians of Somali descent celebrate Somalia’s Independence Day each year on July 1”.
Canadians of, well Canadian descent, celebrate Canada Day when the country was officially established, but Somalia is obviously more important.
There are some 100,000 Somali settlers reportedly occupying parts of Canada. As opposed to a native population of over 40 million.
That seems a little bit unfair.
The math on giving Somalis a whole month doesn’t make sense. Let alone allowing them to replace Canada Day with Somali Independence Day which marked the brutal suppression of Somaliland’s first effort at independence is madness.
The main push for Somali Heritage Month comes from MP Yvan Baker, previously under fire for honoring Ukrainian Nazis and who worked at an organization that urged welcoming SS members to Canada.
If he just moved down to Maine, he could be really popular.

How will they celebrate Somali appreciation day? Have a rapeathon? Steal the car of anybody who drives in? Maybe let them knife a few guests while they are there?

Interesting that history will be rightly corrected so that all the Canadians who died on DDay and in WW1 were there not for Canada but for Somalia. What a nice surprise.

Carney just re-branded Canada’s GST rebate to some Grocery thing and gave out $200 to poorer people while he spent $200,000 on food while on 3 trips abroad ,LOL

This Somali guy didn’t aim high enough. He should have asked for a permanent Somali Heritage Year. (All Somali, all the time.)
Then the stupid Canadian liberals would compromise, and give him the Month.
