In a rare bit of good news for anyone tired of bureaucratic fast-tracking in election matters, the Virginia Supreme Court just told the state’s Department of Elections and Attorney General 'not so fast.'
The high court denied an emergency stay of last week’s Tazewell County Circuit Court ruling that bars the Board of Elections from certifying the results of Virginia’s redistricting referendum — at least for now.

That dizzying sentence makes my head spin. How many negations can be crammed into once sentence? When I encounter something like that, it's hard to decipher whether it's good or bad news.
DEEEEEEEnied!
Legal documents are great at double or even triple negatives.
But this Order says that the previous Order from the lower court putting a hold on the referendum results remains in effect—for now.

Thank you!!! This shitty grammar is so common today that it drives me crazy.
I like the idea that the retrocession of Alexandria and Arlington in 1846 was unconstitutional.
Make DC great again!
It’s not so much shitty grammar as the twisted, convoluted “thinking” that goes into legal cases and reviews. As CFW said, “Legal documents are great at double or even triple negatives.”
Stays, emergency rulings, temporary rulings, overturning lower courts, upholding lower courts, restraints, injunctions, and lots more. What a crazy edifice is the law.
The current joke is “Make DC square again”.
This means the Dems, as plaintiffs, have failed to make the case for irreparable harm (although not being able to change elections in time seems pretty irreparable); or, the court judges them unlikely to succeed on the merits.

“Thousands of Appalachian voters flip from Democrat to Republican, narrowing registration lead”
A wave of party switching in West Virginia is reshaping the state’s political landscape, with tens of thousands of voters — including more than 16,000 Democrats — registering as Republicans since early 2024, according to new data released by the secretary of state.
West Virginia Secretary of State Kris Warner reported that 68,235 voters have changed party affiliation since Jan. 31, 2024, signaling a significant shift ahead of the state’s May 12 primary election.
Among the biggest changes, 16,910 voters switched from Democrat to Republican, while another 20,003 unaffiliated voters also moved to the GOP, according to the data.
And it is a short drive nowadays?
Anything is better than being a commie and West Virginians know the Dem party has become Communist.
Just as in last week.
And this sentence isn’t the only “dizzying” one. It’s been said that the ballot proposition itself also was written in a dizzying fashion to purposely confuse voters.
How many of those now former dems were all in with Robert KKK Byrd?
The remaining dems will use that like a hammer aginst the the republicans

Just as in last week.
No. Just as in today. Look at the date of the Order from the VA Supreme Court. The order last week was from the Circuit Court judge. The State had asked for the Circuit Court’s order to be lifted. Supreme Court today said “No”.
