The Cook County judge who released a repeat violent felon with four pending felony cases on electronic monitoring last December, the same felon prosecutors now say escaped that monitoring and shot two Chicago police officers, killing one over the weekend, acknowledged during the hearing that the defendant likely would have faced “a minimum $1 million bail” under the state’s old cash bail system.
But Judge John Lyke said that era was over.
alley’s public defender, Lauren Widdowson, countered that he had changed while in custody.
“He’s completed eight courses,” she said. “Particularly, he has completed the Rewired Program, Anger Management, how to deal with stressful life events, how to avoid an opioid overdose, and fentanyl and how to test for it in drugs.”
She added that Talley had strong family support and had become a father on October 8 when his daughter was born while he sat in jail.
Still, the judge said Talley’s prior crimes occurred when, “from a physiological standpoint, his brain wasn’t fully developed.” He added that Talley had used his eight months in custody constructively and that fatherhood could be life-changing.
“It appears his mind is finally developing and he may be on the path to making better decisions,” Lyke said.

Soft on crime judge let a career criminal loose which permitted him to kill a Chicago police officer and commit new crimes.
Too many of this countrie’s raggedy ass “judges” have become criminal defender. Aiding and abetting their asses off to make sure criminals are not punished. The Judgeez are rewarding them instead.

Facts are determined by a jury. For this to be accepted as fact in court, the brain needs to be removed and presented to the jury so they can make that determination themselves.

This is an example of Obama/Soros restorative justice, diversion programs and BLM’s demand to end mass incarceration. to keep blacks out of jail. Thanks to Obama we’re all just prey now. Obama..grrrr

I know you are being sarcastic but the whole reparations notion gets on my nerves.
The idea of reparations for people 3 and 4 generations removed from the so called crime is laughable.
