Netflix forecasted second-quarter (Q2) profit below Wall Street estimates, sending its shares tumbling nearly 10% in premarket trading Friday.
Netflix sees Q2 2026 earnings per share of $0.78, versus the Wall Street consensus of $0.84. Netflix sees Q2 2026 revenue of $12.57 billion, which was also below the estimates of $12.64 billion.
In a letter to investors released on Thursday, Netflix also said Chairman Reed Hastings will not stand for re-election at its annual meeting in June and will be leaving the streaming service he co-founded 29 years ago as he plans to focus on philanthropy and other pursuits.

The S&P opened at a new all-time high.
Nothing that a complete change of the board of directors wouldn't improve.
Massive price increases plus horrible product. Who couldn’t see this coming?
I gave up Netflix before it became Obamaflix ,LOL
Oh Reed’s been doing that since the ‘80s.
He repackaged a standard compiler memory checking feature and added a few bells and whistles to make it a bit better at catching memory leaks. Then sold it to IT managers who had no idea what they were buying. Shoulda asked their developers.
That was Purify from Pure software. He was a standing joke in the Silicon Slum back then.
Netflix was just more of the same. One or two good films that you got along with 80 crap films, just send $8/mo...
Reed Hastings (wiki-wacky entry, heading “Activism and Philanthropy”)

They will make “Ow, My Balls!” into a real show.
Too many Obamas🤮 and friends over there. When they entered the organization, we exited.
Philanthropy eh. 🤔 Liberal causes do ya think?
There’s a very limited amount of ‘content’ worth spending any time on, and that goes for all outlets - not just Netflix. l bought a self-help / insight book as a gift for a troubled young man recently. He told me, I don’t read books. I don’t know what to say.
I had Netflix when it was just DVDs by mail.
Stuck with them for awhile when they added streaming.
Ditched them in 2017 when they had a female comedienne making fun of then press secretary Sara Huckabee’s looks.
Because I like subtitled foreign TV, I thought I give then another shot a couple of years back.
They are woke as hell, but I get my 8 bucks a month worth.
In the past couple of years I have subscribed to HBO, Paramount+, and Peacock on promotions mostly coming around Black Friday.
I ditched HBO pretty quickly even at 3 bucks a month.
I got the other two on yearly promotions and will not renew when they are expired.
I had some hopes for Paramount+ but I’m not just that big on Taylor Sheridan stuff who by Hollywood standards is a right winger.
The first couple of episodes of Mobland were pretty good because they were directed by Guy Ritchie, but then it went downhill quick which was too bad because Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan was a good cast.
I couldn’t even get through the first episode of Landman with Billy Bob Thornton who I usually like particularly in that Fargo TV series where he was perfectly cast.
I will stick with Netflix for 8 bucks a month if for no other reason than their foreign catalog remains strong.
Netflux has been Markled.
A sign of how ridiculously emotional the stock market is right now. Earnings of 12 and a half billion dollars were $70 million short of “estimates” and the stock drops 10%. I guess that’s a buying opportunity.
Yup, when you raise prices, make woke deals with America hating leftists, and produce a bunch of woke socialist crap people like me just say no. It’s not a surprise their profits are in the crapper.
Actually back when it was $8, it was a good deal. You got 50% good and bad.
Then everybody else decided to do their own streaming and pulled the better stuff and this is what what we now.
The only thing that could save Netflix at this point is to have more gay characters and more black actors playing roles written as white characters.
Give the people what they want.
Give the people what they want.
Give the people what they want
You gotta give the people what they want
The more they get, the more they need
And every time they get harder and harder to please
