Iran lost its own mines. Swalwell lost control of an exploding narrative. The WSJ lost the real cause of our health crisis. A terrific judicial appointment should delight MAHA. And more.
Good morning, C&C, it’s Saturday! Your weekend edition roundup includes: how Iran’s mines are the most convenient excuse since the dog ate the homework — and why Trump is quietly delighted about it; the spectacular self-destruction of Eric Swalwell, who ran his entire campaign on protecting women and now faces four accusers, a surfaced NDA he said never existed, and a Democratic Party that just handed him his hat; the MAHA judicial appointment nobody’s talking about — the Ohio SG who killed Biden’s vaccine mandate is now heading to the Second Circuit; and the Wall Street Journal finally admitting Americans are sicker than everyone else — while somehow blaming our gym habits.
C&C ARMY BRIEFING — IRAN WAR UPDATE ⛑️ You couldn’t make 2026 up. Behold, this morning the New York Times ran a frontpage story headlined, “Iran Unable to Find Mines It Planted in Strait of Hormuz, U.S. Says.” Honey! Where did I put my mines? The sub-headline explained, “The lost mines have prevented Iran from quickly complying with President Trump’s demand to allow more ships to pass through the waterway.” It’s only going to hurt for a very long time.
It’s no secret that for weeks I have suggested the Trump Administration might not actually want to re-open the Strait very quickly. Recently, other commenters have begun to suspect the same thing. Not too surprising.
They put them there in haste, under constant treat of US air attacks. No wonder they have no idea where they are?!
High gasoline prices, regardless of what it does for the U.S. oil sector, are not great for the mid-terms, nor for consumer wallets.
Very good news on the judicial front. I hope the Senate is pushing these nominations through at a fast pace. Of course nothing else is moving at a fast pace.
I just wish Trump and his surrogates would mention more often that it’s hardly the first time we’ve been hit with high gas prices, but there’s a big difference this time. Under Biden, we paid through the nose - for nothing. This time there’s a reason and the world will be a better place because of the temporary pain in the wallet.
Some won’t understand or care but it’s worth saying anyhow as many Americans understand the concept of patriotic sacrifice for the greater long-term good. They just need to be reminded.
I was okay with leveling the nuke sites. I didn’t expect a followup. I am also not convinced that the world will be a better place after this is over. I hope I am wrong.
Love Childers’ column. Thanks for posting it.

I’m hoping you shut up.
After a while a neighbors yapping dog gets annoying.
