How It Started - Virginia's Four Wasted Years
Flopping Aces ^ | 04-07-26 | Brother Bob

You're probably heard one of the many stories about how "Former" CIA Agent Spanberger and the Democrat controlled state house is working to leapfrog California and  turn Virginia into Venezuela. What you might not know is what got us here, and where this is likely headed. Even if you live nowhere near Virginia, you should be worried. First let's step into The Wayback Machine to the long lost days of 2021...

Ah, to go back to the days when the country was emerging from the government's overreaction to The Fauci Flu by locking down America, punishing the elderly and children the worst. Here in the Commonwealth of Virginia, we, along with New Jersey, had our off-year Gubernatorial races. Disgraced former Democrat Governor Ralph "Coonman" Northam was term limited out, and the Democrats nominated former Clintonista Bagman and previous Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe (Virginia term limits Governors to one non-consecutive term).

On the Republican side, I got my first taste of ranked choice voting. It came down to the two frontrunners, Pete Snyder and Glen Youngkin. While I admit I don't do a ton of research into primary candidates, what I remember reading at the time showed very little daylight between the two on policy. Both seemed fine, but the fact that Snyder showed more initiative to get my vote had me casting for him, with Youngkin as my #2. I won't try to explain how ranked-choice voting works, as I don't completely understand it myself, but it can be best summed up as "How the Establishment ensures that their less popular candidate gets elected." This explains how the Vichy Republicans keep Lisa Murkowski in the Senate up in Alaska. As things shook out, Youngkin was declared the winner, and I was fine with it at the time. Looking back and knowing what I know now, I shouldn't have been.

We now venture into another one of my Unprovable TheoriesTM. For anyone unfamiliar, my Unprovable Theories (and I have several) are just like conspiracy theories in most ways, with two significant differences: I acknowledge that I have no way to ever prove them, and if I were to see conclusive evidence to disprove them, I'd have no problem shrugging my shoulders, admitting I was wrong, and moving on. Try getting a 9/11 Truther or a Climastrologist to do the same. So how does that pertain here?

I believe that Youngkin was the candidate that the Virginia GOP wanted to play the role of "affable loser" to get McAuliffe into office, sort of like how Jeb! Was intended to be Hilary's GOP Gimp in 2016 (Or McCain and Pierre Delecto for Barry O in '08 and '12). Youngkin's big rallying issue, which was going to have Republicans crawling across broken glass to vote for him, was... the repeal of the grocery tax. Mind you, I agreed with Youngkin on this, but with everything that the Radical Left had been inflicting on America, that was his way of appealing to voters?

As I recapped last year:

2021 was when the world was slowly emerging from the damage caused by the overreaction to The Fauci Flu. Significantly, this election, 2020, had given parents some ugly insight as to what the public education system thinks of our kids. And a story broke that T-Mac decided to carry the banner for the teachers who had been abusing their students by standing together to keep the kids out of schools. T-Mac said that parents had no business knowing what was going on in their kids’ classrooms.  This did not go over too well among us parents who had spent the last year raising concerns about our kids’ education and were simply told by our various school boards to go copulate ourselves. Given a simple opportunity to apologize and clarify, the arrogant T-Mac doubled down on his remarks! Seriously, all T-Mac had to say was something to the effect of “I misspoke. Of course, I’m not suggesting that parents should have no say in their kids’ education, just that if every parent were in the classroom, how can teachers possibly do their job?” But he didn’t.

It didn’t help that around this time in Louden County (near DC) a girl was violated in a school bathroom by a dude wearing a dress, which only amplified this issue. The silence from T-Mac’s campaign was deafening, as the Democrats are now beholden to the LGBTQ+ (Silent P)  cadre. And Youngkin was able to bring out the Education Parents vote, and T-Mac blew an election he had no business losing.

As we all know, Youngkin won, and the next few years gave us exactly the kind of antics that Black Pills us Normals. Republicans had captured not only the Governorship, but also the Lt. Governor in Winsome Earle Sears and Attorney General Jason Miyares. Furthermore, Republicans had the Virginia House, while the Dems had a slim lead in the Virginia Senate. And that was all they needed to prevent any meaningful legislation from advancing. Former Delegate Nick Freitas has been doing a great job of chronicling the Dems' antics in Richmond on his YouTube channel. Nick also has some good street cred, both as a former legislator but also someone who was defeated by "Former" CIA Agent Spanberger's greatest talent as a Democrat candidate - finding a thumb drive full of votes the morning after the election.

So, given what Youngkin needed to accomplish, anything was to win the State Senate and hold the House in the 2022 elections, he poured his efforts into campaigning around the state to get GOP candidates elected so he could pass impactful legislation, right? Given that this was the Virginia Republican Party, Youngkin decided to spend the fall of 2022 "raising his national profile".

The Republicans ran a very poor candidate against Spanberger.

The RNC needs to wake up, and quit running bad candidates, or we’ll continue to pay a heavy price.

Can anyone speculate as to why Trump didn’t endorse Sears?

I recall at one time she had said some negative things about Trump. And that’s part of the reason people here on Free Republic dislike her. ,

Half of the time, she looks like she’s not too dimly aware of something coming up from behind her. You can tell by watching and listening to her that she knows exactly what she’s doing, and she might continue to be a good liar, but only for so long.

Another CIA plant.

They have more than a few they’re trying to get elected. VA has surrendered to the deep-state.

I stopped reading there. What a pant load. I was heavily involved in that campaign. First, VA Republicans fought hard for Republicans to win that election. Second, the issue that Youngkin hammered on and that got him elected was opposition to the Democrat desire to exclude parents from having a voice in school policies regarding trans and other Democrat promoted sexual deviances.

You nailed it. The world is not run by small numbers of conspriacists.

They try, but failure is common.

She wasn’t a poor candidate, it was a poor, under financed campaign.

Racial element here.
Bad candidates. Why didn’t Youngkin run for a senate seat? Answer-he knew he’d lose so don’t bother fighting.

Much the same in Minnesota where the GOP runs lackluster candidates and poor campaigns and has given us Tampon Tim Walz for two disastrous terms as governor

I claim that I coined the phrase “Vichy Republicans” during the Tea Party days (2009). Chatgpt says that Glenn Greenwald stole it from me. Too bad we can’t scan our FR posts.

Chatgpt:

The term “Vichy Republicans” has been used by multiple commentators over time, but it’s most closely associated with Glenn Greenwald, who helped popularize it in political commentary during the 2010s.

If Youngkin had been able to be the GOP candidate, Spanberger would have lost dramatically.

Spanberger was blessed to have an awful opponent.

Two key takes or lessons learned that the Republicans should know.

Black Democrat voters will not cross party lines for a black Republican and some white Republicans will stay home with a black candidate.

Openly gay politicians will not draw out Republican voters and from what I understand the lieutenant governor that ran in Virginia was such a politician.

Republicans have a hard enough time getting out the vote.

Just observations on my part.

you are correct. Sears campaigned on trannies in the bathrooms- while I agree with her, there are other issues to consider.
Abby lied about being moderate but the Dems always do.
