Why wouldn’t it go to federal courts? That is the standard Modus Operandi of Democrats.
What redistricting giveth, redistricting can taketh away.
SCOTUS generally does not second-guess state supreme courts on their own constitutions unless there's a clear federal question (e.g., Voting Rights Act racial gerrymandering claim or Equal Protection violation).
No major federal claims appear to be driving the current litigation here, and recent SCOTUS precedents have largely stepped back from federal involvement in partisan gerrymandering disputes.
