BREAKING -- Oahu Hawaii Largely Without Power as Massive Stormfront Hits
March 14, 2026 | Whatever works

Posted on 03/14/2026 9:43:34 AM PDT by Whatever Works

No power here in eastern Honolulu. Out all night and continuing this morning. High winds took off part of our plastic lanai roof, uprooted tree in front yard which is currently covering sidewalk. Cable box cover torn off and blown into front yard. You'd think a hurricane came through. No ETA of power return.

Ah! Life in paradise.

There is a funnel cloud or tornado in the Hualalai location, right now, according to radar.

Thank you. Gonna feed the wild cat who visits now. Got birds hiding in my rafters this morning ... totally unafraid of people.

But NO COFFEE!!!

Former 22 year Maui resident here. Hope all is OK there.

Just looked at the wind history from NWS at Honolulu Airport (DKIIA now?) and seeing good wind and high surf - time to rig up my small windsurfing gear and go wave sailing!

Hope your power is restored soon. But look on the bright side…at least you don’t have to shovel snow off the sidewalk.

So far, so good. Hubby flying back from mainland. Plane due in early afternoon. Hope there are no problems.

Hope we don’t see any funnel clouds like previous poster posted.

Everybody stay safe.

I grew up in Florida. I know what a hurricane looks like and they don’t all look like that everywhere. But thanks for playing.

Dear Whatever Works,

To quote your Freeper Home Page: Real power lies with who counts the votes and controls the teleprompter.

Maybe it's not your weather. ;-)

Best of luck to you! Aloha.

HF Transciever and a battery box. That should get you to communicate with the states. That and there are ways to send email over HF (distance) and VHF (local) using certain radios, iphone and a dongle bit...or most all radios with proper cables, and laptop, tablet—

I have been trying to set up such a system at m home, but my problem is, for local, instate communications (Norther California Gold Country) that the nearest gateways are just a bit too far away. There are what is called digi-peaters, but they too are a bit far away. Ugh....

With the price of lumber, I have always wondered if that wood gets salvaged or dumped/burned.

I lived there for many years, never got strong hurricane. Flood, yes, in 2005-06. I only heard about the legendary Iniki but that’s long time ago.

I lived here during Iniki - if it had turned left towards Oahu, they’d be still repairing the damage.🌴😄

Yesterday lost power here on the West side for about 6 hours.. Everything is flooded around my house, entire yard is 6+ inches of standing water. Neighbor lost 2 of his papaya trees to wind - fell onto his roof.

Are you sure our stupid governor didn’t just order it to be turned off?
I’m on the Big island of Hawaii, North of Hilo
50 road miles or so.
The butt-wipe governor shut everything
down, with no warning. Thankfully we
are prepared for butt-wipe Democrats
and have months of supplies
in the event of their stupid decisions and our weather.
Just for you people that think Hawaii is “Paradise”,
where I live, the Big Island is subject to every type
of bad weather and landscape possible on Earth.
Only thing we don’t have is Arctic Tundra.
All we got out of the hurricane is a little rain.
Since I live on “Catchment” water, rain is good.
Parts of the island flooded, but that
is where the cheap land areas are and
most thinking people
don’t build there or
at least are prepared to deal with it.
Butt-wipe Honolulu centrist Democrats don’t
have a clue what their Honolulu centrist
views do to the rest of the state.
All they think about is their own little world.
Honolulu may have the majority of voters in
the state, but they are not what real
Hawaii is.
Honolulu is populated by butt-wipe power
crazed Democrats.
They have made Honolulu into the Democrat
sewer they thought they were escaping
from in mainland cities and they are
sharing their pain with us.

Thanks to Democrat imagined air quality
problems in the middle of the Pacific
ocean, most all trash burning or fireplaces
are illegal.
I wonder how/when our active volcano
is going to be outlawed by Democrats.
