Globe & Mail : Alabama's per capita GDP had edged higher than Canada's

In this highly amusing Globe & Mail story, Canadians are stunned to discover that Alabama is not the dirt poor hillbilly backwater they think it is. They're totally gobsmacked when they learn Alabama's per capita GDP had edged higher than Canada's. "Canadians could probably stomach having their living standards slip relative to the broader U.S., the epicentre of the world's tech revolution. But Alabama?"

Alabama has got Huntsville to the north. Incredible scenery;Huntsville; outer space exploration type stuff and a seaport at Mobile to the south. Add lots of trees and navigation for barge traffic on smaller rivers and you have got lots of potential for industrial strength and local tourism. Now, if they could just get an NFL team to compete with their college football teams in the attendance stats they could become a Super Bowl Site.

Ken Burns’ “The War” focused on Mobile and how it expanded during the War. The population literally tripled overnight.

Typical Byron York: And despite the bible thumping, Birmingham has a sizable LGBTQ+ community and scored the same as Boston on the Human Rights Campaign’s Municipal Equality Index.

"Despite the Bible thumping", like that's some kind of bad thing. Perhaps the country's largest network of non-denominational evangelical churches is ARC (Association of Related Churches), with its church-planting work. And probably half of its founding came from a non-denom church in Alabama. Don't be surprised if those ARC churches comprise of much of the church growth among young males we read about.

Its not going to stop there. Massive government not only smothers innovation and business development, but creates massive government corruption. The country stops growing and starts going backward. The Liberals seem entrenched in government so its not going to turn around anytime soon.
