U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers discovered more than $6.8 million worth of cocaine hidden inside a Valentine’s rose shipment at the Texas-Mexico border.
The massive drug bust at Laredo’s World Trade Bridge on February 10 yielded approximately 516 pounds of cocaine concealed among fresh flowers.
Officials reported the haul contained enough cocaine for roughly 190,000 lethal doses.
A CBP officer flagged the tractor-trailer for secondary inspection after it arrived at the crossing. The driver had declared the cargo as roses and fresh flowers.
Officers deployed a canine team and non-intrusive imaging technology during their search. They discovered 211 packages of alleged cocaine tucked within the floral shipment.
“The discovery within a shipment of roses demonstrates the vigilance and expertise of our officers,” said Alberto Flores, Port Director for the Laredo Port of Entry. “Their commitment to the mission reflects the high standards of service CBP upholds.”
CBP officials estimated the street value at $6,899,798. The agency handed the investigation over to Homeland Security Investigations special agents.
Authorities have not disclosed whether they made any arrests in connection with the smuggling attempt. The case remains under active investigation.

Roses are a good way to hide coke from the dogs. Back in the 1980’s, you could buy roses on the side of the road for almost nothing.
As I walked out on the streets of Laredo.

Wrapped in a jail jumpsuit an orange, not gray.
“I can see by your outfit that you’re an ICE agent.”
These words he did say as I boldly walked by.
“Come an’ sit down beside me an’ hear my sad story.
“I’m caught with the cocaine, I’ll be jailed by the by.”

Whoever just lost 6.8 million in coke might not agree with that. Lol!
Trump should blow up one of them.
I’ve been writing on FR about the great TV coverage at the borders with inspections etc...they can find anything - even if they have to DISMANTLE a car, a truck, even large busses to find the drugs - some even found IN GAS TANKS - drain the gas out and there’s the drugs! Amazing coverage....well worth watching!! Those guys/gals do great work - not just Mexican or CA border but the MI/Canada border crossings too! Many names so I won’t try to list them as I’d be sure to mess up...
