Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) has just confirmed massive news for election integrity patriots across the country. After weeks of tireless work, Lee announced that he had secured 50 Senators to support the motion to proceed on the House-passed version of the SAVE Act (Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act).
This is a major victory for those fighting to ensure only U.S. citizens vote in U.S. elections. But the battle isn’t over—it’s just entering the most critical phase.
With the motion to proceed now viable, Senator Lee is laying out the exact roadmap to bypass the obstructionist swamp and get this bill across the finish line. The strategy? The Talking Filibuster.
***
According to [Representative Paula] Luna, John Thune signaled after a meeting with Donald Trump that the Senate is prepared to bring the SAVE Act to the floor without the modern, abuse-ridden 60-vote blockade.
In a new statement, Senator Lee made it crystal clear: no more hiding in the backrooms. If Democrats want to block legislation that prevents non-citizens from voting, they are going to have to stand up and do it in front of the American people.Sen. Mike Lee: “All right, so I’m getting a lot of questions. What’s next now that we’ve got enough votes to get past a motion to proceed to the House-passed version of the Save America Act? We’ve got to put all of our efforts… The Senate needs to invoke the talking filibuster, to enforce the talking filibuster.”
Lee is calling on every patriot to apply pressure. The days of the “silent filibuster”—where a Senator can simply send an email to block a bill—must end for this critical legislation.

I would like to see the talking filibuster.
Let the Democrats mocrats get up there and say that black people in certain other groups are just too stupid to know how to get an ID.
Let Chuck Schumer get up there , and lecture us about how this legislation is a return to Jim Crow laws.
Let them allude to how verifying citizenship somehow would discriminate against illegals, who don’t have a right to vote in this first place.
And I would welcome the open and honest debate, about why Democrats oppose this sort of legislation.
If I understand the Senate rules correctly, having these 50 votes plus JD Vance as the tie breaker, is enough to open debate on the legislation.
I don’t fully understand the rules about how to officially declare it needs to be a talking filibuster.
I’ve also heard if there’s a talking filibuster, that no other Senate business can be conducted until that filibuster is concluded.
Whatever the case, it sounds like things are moving forward. This is good to see
Now if only they could embarrass the under-the-table ‘RAT Senator Thune to actually allow it to pass with a Constitutional majority vote. But that scumbag certainly won’t, IMHO.
the talking filibuster was last used in the senate in 1964 when dixicrat democrats filibustered johnson’s great society bills. They talked for awhile before giving up.
does anyone recall any later uses of the talking filibuster?
“To make my point, I would like to read to you from the District of Columbia phone book: Abdule Abdulla, ...”
We won’t hear anything useful, but it will tire them out.
I don’t think a talking filibuster requires one to only talk about the particular bill, but anything at all.
One senator even spent his hour reading the entire Washington DC phone book!
“I don’t fully understand the rules about how to officially declare it needs to be a talking filibuster.”
By default it is a continuation of debate (talking filibuster).
60 votes are required to end that debate. If the Senate majority leader knows he doesn’t have the 60 votes he will not call for the vote and the bill dies.
Update:
New York Senator Alfonse D‘Amato, a Republican, held the second-longest individual filibuster in 1986 when he spoke for 23 hours and 30 minutes against a military spending bill. D‘Amato was outraged by an amendment that cut funding for a jet trainer plane that was to be built by a company in his state, potentially costing New York jobs.
During his filibuster, D‘Amato read from the District of Columbia phone book and discussed the nutritional value of various foods. His speech drew criticism from some who argued that it was a waste of taxpayer money to keep the Senate in session overnight.
“The Great Compromise” is the worst thing ever to happen to America — built into the Constitution and which made some sense at the time. Of course followed by the 17th Amendment. The socialists, commies, redistributionists have been at it since Day One and will not let up. Should we have another civil war this will be why.
So Thune could call for a vote to end debate at midnight, 3:00 am whenever. He can continue to call for a vote at any weird time, and the democrat senators would have to be present to block it.
Sen. Lee has shown real leadership on this issue. Rare in the US Senate.
Just do it.
That’s when a Senator takes control of the floor and doesn’t yield which prevents the Senate from being able to do other business. Irrelevant to a cloture vote.
I’m not honestly not sure why people keep bringing this up as some sort of a solution...the two things are completely unrelated.
That would get it to 60 votes...how?
“Everyone knows the SAVE act won’t get 60 votes.”
It only takes 51 votes to pass a bill.
That’s nice but the Dems have already set up their strategy to look righteous.
They say Trump wants to take away voting from black people after all the sacrifices of the MLK civil rights movement. He wants to promote white racism. Women who dared to get a divorce before their rotten husbands hurt them worse physically are now disenfranchised under not enough proof of their legal name now.*
So fight to stop voter ID.
* To be perfectly honest, I oppose the bureaucratic government identity proof such as this.
At the Sec. of State (others call it DMV) my late wife had to get her Real ID. I got mine using my birth certificate. She had lost hers somewhere in the past but had an original “Certificate of Live Birth” in Michigan, and her name on old records like bills that showed her as here since 1948.
No dice. A state certified new copy of a birth certificate had to be ordered, made and arrived in the mail.
I heard the stupid youn clerk say his pre-written BS “We are happy that your wife’s hospital certified she was born but this is not allowed for satisfaction of the legal requirement.”
I sneered at the nerdy clerk but stopped from yelling at him. Punk.
May win the Dems even more votes.
50 from the senate plus the vp Assuming all 100 senators are there and vote
