Affirmative Action Quotas in Question as Female, Minority Pilots Caused Half of Pilot-Error Crashes
The Western Journal ^ | 02/08/2026 | Michael Austin

Daniel Huff, a former White House lawyer, noted in a recent analysis that the drive toward diversity and inclusion in the airline industry has put passengers at risk.

In an article for the New York Post, Huff wrote that President Donald Trump was right to rescind diversity efforts at the Federal Aviation Administration.

That’s because female and minority pilots — many of whom entered the industry amid a drive toward diversity among pilots — were responsible for half of pilot-error crashes.

Despite making up 10 percent of pilots, they were responsible for four out of eight such crashes since 2000.

“The sample size is small,” Huff wrote. “But precisely because crashes are so rare, the few times they occur it’s important to scrutinize who is at the controls; under DEI’s guiding principle of relying on statistical disparities, it’s certainly enough to raise questions.”

“It’s not that women and minorities are inherently unable to fly planes, but in practice, pressure for affirmative action too often leads airlines to lower their standards to meet quotas,” Huff added.

The attorney referenced the 2019 Atlas Air Crash as an example.

Conrad Aska, a black pilot, “panicked after accidentally initiating a go-around procedure and flew the plane into the ground,” Huff wrote.

There were signs that such behaviors were a risk even as he was training.

n simulator exercises, he would “get extremely flustered and could not respond appropriately.”

Even worse, not all diversity-driven safety incidents even reach the public eye.

“Most diversity disasters leave far-from-complete paper trails. Training failures happen behind closed doors. Near-misses can go unreported,” Huff wrote.

Ask any courtroom clerk or bailiff how the affirmative action lawyers do in court and multiply the seriousness by 100.

Another point that has been made about AA from the start is that those from AA demographics who earned their spots would be tainted by the performance that didn’t.

My son is an airline pilot and absolutely can attest to this…he said years ago, he felt very uncomfortable flying with DEI hires and using their mechanics. He now flies privately owned jets.

Put this along side the concept of IQ tests — which we aren’t supposed to use any more because the results are embarrassing for certain people.

And put this also along side of Body Cams for police — which seemed like a swell idea when people thought they’d show police brutality, but now don’t seem like a good idea because they show awful behavior by certain demographic groups as well as remarkable restraint by police.

Everybody knows all of this stuff. We’re just not supposed to talk about it.

Same on any detrimental statistics when minorities are heaven forbid segregated statistically. Their minority status doth not imbue value

Imagine middle age overweight out of shape white males as diversity hires in MMA competition. There are things you just have to leave to the folks who are actually good at it.

Does this mean to say that people like United’s 90 day wonders aren’t as good as say, a 5,000 plus military pilot? Tell me it isn’t so.

Part of me thinks this is a ploy to fully automate the cockpit since we are kinda short on retired or retiring military pilots.

The only reason women and minorities were not pilots in the past was because of mean, racist, sexist, white men, according to the idiot left. Safety is racist.

Be fair. It’s hard to parallel park a 757.

So the other half of the accidents were qualified men?

If civil aviation were designed for DEI, then we wouldn’t have these problems, but it wasn’t. (of course, if it were designed for DEI, it be as ‘advanced’ as it is in Botswana, for example)

Commercial aviation for obvious reasons should be a pure meritocracy. Either you pack the gear or you don’t.

Defense lawyers used to fight for bodycam adoption. Now they fight just as hard or harder to get bodycam footage excluded.

Idiots.

“So the other half of the accidents were qualified men?”

You suck at math to think that was a negative statement.

How true. I know women and minorities who earned their flying credentials back in the 1980s. They had to meet the same requirements that all pilots had to meet.
