The U.S. Coast Guard coordinated the rescue of 27 mariners after their Venezuelan-flagged fishing vessel caught fire and sank roughly 500 miles north-northwest of the Galapagos Islands over the weekend, highlighting the role of international cooperation and commercial shipping in remote ocean rescues.

That is a long way from American waters.
I doubt this will be reported by CBS and other old media outlets because it doesn’t fit their narrative. See Tagline.
How does the USCG rescue sailors from a burning ship that already sank?
Gotta read the article
Using a crewmember’s satellite messaging device, watchstanders confirmed the vessel was on fire and had sunk, forcing all 27 crew members to abandon ship into an emergency lifeboat.
Can’t find a photo of the Venezuelan fishing vessel mentioned in the story. I think the media doesn’t want to comparison and contrast to the Venezuelan drug running boats.
The 240-foot fishing vessel La Pena issued an SOS distress alert at 3:51 p.m. Pacific time Saturday, prompting Rescue Coordination Center Alameda to take charge of the response. Using a crewmember’s satellite messaging device, watchstanders confirmed the vessel was on fire and had sunk, forcing all 27 crew members to abandon ship into an emergency lifeboat.
See, it's really simple.

She looks more than a bit different from the drug-running pangas. The lifeboat looks bigger than the pangas, in fact.
They were not rescued from a burning ship.
Of course, if you actually READ THE ARTICLE, you bypass all the silliness.
I know it’s a “FReeper Tradition” to not read the article.
It’s a bad tradition. It’s stupidity and (usually) laziness.
People who do it deserve a (virtual) spanking.
I have nothing further to say on this thread regarding the reading of the article.
The ship burned, it sank, they went into one life raft and called from a Sat Phone that had 37% battery.
Yes, it is, but still, the US Coast Guard was able to be of assistance :
“… With no Coast Guard cutters or aircraft operating nearby, RCC Alameda issued SafetyNet and SafetyCAST alerts to vessels in the area and initiated an AMVER query. Two ships were identified within 115 miles of the distress position, with another 13 within 575 miles.
The motor vessel Seaways Kenosha, located about 100 miles away, responded and diverted to assist. At approximately 3:30 a.m. Sunday, the vessel arrived on scene and successfully recovered all 27 mariners from the lifeboat.…”
Great! That’s how you pick up the details.
37% battery on the sat-phone doesn’t speak well of their maintenance standards.
The ship catching fire and sinking doesn’t speak well of them either. At least the lifeboat worked.
He’s not only Deaf....can’t read, either lol (jk, Deaf)
Non-article readers are probably the same ones who only vote for president but not for the mid-terms.
Each case, they can’t be bothered.
Thread title does not match the story.
The ship was not “burning” when the USCG made the rescue, it was not even on the surface.
ID’ING A REAL FISHING BOAT IS MUCH EASIER, ALSO.
