1. An "Anti-Tenant Harassment" unit has been formed
2. Property will be taken away from owners who do not comply with the city's dictates
3. Aggrieved tenants and tenant groups will be consulted to form policy (more "tenant protection" law)
4. The overwhelming majority of landlords are greedy and evil
5. Landlords will be severely fined and sued to fill the city's coffers
This all under the guise of "health and safety" "for the children" concerns. Their first target is A&E Properties that holds mostly rent controlled units.
Most landlords are concerned with health and safety for the tenant as it is supposed to be a mutual business relationship, however NO mention is made of bad TENANT behavior such as :
1. arbitrarily withholding rent
2. squatting/holdovers with no intention of paying rent whatsoever
3. tenant-caused damages
4. tenant lease violations (dangerous animals, ESA faking, subletting, denial of access)
5. harassing the landlord (assault and in some cases ending in murder as seen throughout the country)
6. professional tenants using the system/legal loopholes
7. fake habitability claims while staying in said "unsafe" unit without paying rent
8. fraudulent documents submitted during the screening process with the intention of deliberate deception
Let’s see how seizure of privately-owned real property plays out in court.
However, with today’s courts...the blatantly illegal is deemed legal and vice versa.
How plausible, or not, does the city’s position have to be in court to justify eminent domain condemnation and seizure?
